Anyone following the Hicks case in Guantanamo?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/americas/03/30/guantanamo.hick...
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200703/s1886424.htm

- Hicks was arrested in the middle east and sent to Guantanamo in January 2002, one of the first people to be sent there.

- Australia was pretty much the only country who allowed its citizens to be held, while Britain & other countries demanded the release of their citizens from the illegal imprisonment.

- Hicks fought to become a British citizen because of this, since his mother was from the UK but the Brits rejected it and the House of Lords deemed it a shameful act towards Hicks.

- Labour party Australia & Get Up! have been mounting pressure against Howard & the Liberal's a lot more in the last 2 months, Howard is at his lowest rating in years. Now this happens months before an election.

- He pleaded guilty after endless months of solitary confinement and 24/7 of flourescent lighting causing sleep deprivation. At this point, I think anyone would have said anything just to get the fuck out.

- Even though he pleaded guilty, HE had to prove he was guilty, doing the prosecution job for them.

- He plead out to training with Al Qaeda briefly in 2001 and fighting against the US forces for a whole 2 hours.

- Already served 5 years in Gitmo, they gave him another 7 years on top of that but commuted it down to only 9 more months to be served, which will be done in Australia now.

Does anyone else find this completely distrubing and wrong? He was kept in pathetic conditions and basically tortured with solitary confinement & sleep deprivation, plus claims of other abuse. 5 years held without his government giving a shit about it, without charge or trial.

After all this its supposedly proof the system works, when in fact the system was never tested. He got out the only way left, the charges were bullshit. The guy was trained and fought with the Kosovo Liberation Army during the Kosovo war, and that was thanks to US support that got him there.

I feel sick and don't really want to spend another fucking day in a country where total fucking cunts run the place and let shit like this happen to their own citizens.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.
