What is the best type of show lineup for you
I was thinking about this the other day and wanted to see what the Thorp Board though about line ups.
Do you like a line up where all the bands perform the same style or represent all differnt styles. For example (and example only folks), you could
have Terror, Hoods, and Hatebreed on one bill
Example number 2, you could have The Horror Pops, Blood For Blood and H2O.
Example 3 is maybe all HC bands but varying styles like Madball, Earth Crisis, Kill Your Idols and Skarhead.
Thoughts?
Make sense?

I like any kind of lineup, as long as the bands are good. A bit of variety is always good though.

a good mix can be rewarding, although if your in the right mood similar style bands is always good.

it depends if its going to be like all legendary bands then I would want a total mix. If its a regular show then I like one style... it can vary a
little, but not hugely

I'm with you on this one. That is a very good point. I know it really depends on mood and what not but I was curious if there was an overall
preference.
I love the shows with beer too. About 3 years ago I saw SOIA and The Unseen in an alcohol/smoke free venue. It was a nice change.
side not- The Unseen stunk. Not musically but body odor. They even commented on it. When they got off the stage, the smell cleared up.

I like a mix
I played one of those metal fest shows a long time ago....
don't ask why but we did, and we were the first band of the day at 11:00 a.m.
Samhain reunion and Danzig were the headliner that day so I thought I would hang around till oh 11 p.m. to see them
12 hours of live death metal on 3 stages, spending the day with death metal fans.... (could have also been some black metal, and other silly sub
genres thrown in as well), but still
I was a fan of some death up till that point...
but Iwanted to fucking kill myself
and I couldn't leave as I rode dwon with some folks who were staying the whole thing for samhain as well....
bascially it was hell, what I would have given for a ska band that day, or some, anything fucking other then death...
but for a normal 3 or 4 band show I can stand the stand sound back to back
we also used to throw park shows back in the day, rent out one of those coverd spaces and just plug in and go...
everyband within an hour would come out, ska, pop punk, metal, crust, acoustic, hardcore, and just play for free, people would grill and watch bands
and interact and have a good day....
a little something for everyone, this was when i lived in a podunk town in missouri and there were no clubs, and house shows got shut down fast, so it
was a good way to keep the "underground" united, long before any of these style got the mainstream attention they do now.

I continue the thought that it's nice for a little variety. Four hardcore bands that all have the same style is nice but unless you are really into
each, they bleed together.
As for fantasy booking, I would say Street Dogs, Sheer Terror, Rancid and Hub City Stompers.
I'm really looking forward to the show in my area with Agnostic Front, Hoods and Municipal Waste. A little something for everyone.
