I need help
I got a 30 gig Ipod (thanks everyone for the earlier feedback) and now I need to know where to go to get the music, the itunes store fuckin sucked!
Where do youz all go to get your tunes? Does it cost money? where might I go to skirt paying for the music? Not that I would do that but where would one go for that kind of thing?
On another note, my orders came in, I ship out in early June to start my training, I will be in Iraq for a one year tour in the early Fall. Needless
to say I am in a daze about it, it dosen't seem real but the crunch is on to get all kinds of shit ready and loading this Ipod needs to happen as I
would go fuckin nuts without music over there. I love youz all, thanks!

check out Soulseek www.slsknet.org It's all free, several other people on here use it. There's a buddy list on there where you can add everyone here and download
shit from them. Or you can search and download from other people. Works great.
When you're up on there my username is "juicemayne" I'll turn my shit on when I get home.

under options is menu "file sharing configuration".there you put the folders in others are allowed to download. that?s all.the rest do the ones that
want your files.
if you want to send someone files, there is an option "send files"...

I use the same folder for downloading and uploading. I have a folder on my desktop called soulseek and thats where all music files are shared from.
Soulseek is pretty easy to use, you basically search for what you're looking for and anything that shows up in a search right click on it and it tells
you what all of your options are for it. You can download a file, i.e. a song or 'download containing folder' which downloads the entire folder that
song is in, which 99% of the time is the entire album. You just need to watch it because sometimes people aren't organized and downloading the folder
could download like 50000 songs (which you can easily cancell...itll just bog you down for a minute).
Limewire is an adware nightmare from anyone I've ever talked to so I steer clear. I have never had a problem finding anything on soulseek.
I'm sure if you get with somneone on here when their logged into it they'd be able to walk you through the basics right in the soulseek chat window.

Alright, I've found a whole shitload of stuff, I am right clicking and choosing the download containing folder, and have tried downloading each song.
When I hit the download button, it dosen't seem to be going where I chose for it to go? Do I have to request the add of someone before I can download
there stuff? It's in bold so I'm assuming I don;t but it's not working right

Go to the transfers window. Is the stuff downloading at all? Showing what % its at? If not you might just be in their que waiting for the download to
start...this could take anywhere from 3 minutes to 3 hrs depending on their connection speed and amount of people ahead of you if they have a set
amount of downloaders allowed.

i used limewire once or twice years ago, before all the adware.
never used soulseek.
all my music is either just ripped from cds or shared diectly between friends.
i've also gotten a lot of stuff (mostly crapy metal) from the lambgoat forums by searching for "YSI".
ripping cds to itunes only takes a few minutes.
itunes keeps one copy of the music on your computer, then copies everything over to your ipod when you plug it in.
delete something from itunes and will be deleted from your ipod.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Can I put a bunch of CDs on Itunes and then plug in the Ipod expecting it to take anything I have loaded into Itunes at that point? Or do I have to
load a CD then plug in the Ipod to get the CDs one at a time?

no, you can rip the cds anytime, then just plug in your ipod whenever you're ready.
essentially, itunes makes sure your ipod mirrors the content of itunes. (so if you rip 10 cds at a friend's house to your laptop, then go home and
plug in the ipod, itunes will copy those 10 albums to your ipod and keep a copy on the computer.)
if you have more music than your ipod can hold (say 100gb music, but only a 40gb ipod), by defauly itunes will run straight down the list and copy
over whatever will fit.
HOWEVER, you can create playlists (based on genre, released date, artist name, anything), and tell itunes to ONLY sync the content of those playlists
to the ipod.
In either instance, your computer serves as the master library, and your ipod holds whatever portion of that library you've instructed it to.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.
