new shoes

I've had my old gripfasts for about three years, and after near-daily wear, they are BEAT - ripped at the seams, cracked on the bottoms, missing thier inserts, crooked from wear. just downright uncomfortable. this new pair is a pleasure to wear. i shoulda bought these a year ago. cheap bastard.

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

i probably wore their the three hole, steel toe with no stitching shoe for 10 or 12 years.
i hate the yellow stitching.
now, you can't get that shoe without the yellow stiching.
i get it, it's branding; i'm just not into it.
i don't love the white stitching on the gripfasts either, but it's less identifiable.

I like the yellow stitching on Doc's.

I really need to get around to buying some new footwear.

i don?t like the yellow stitching too, i color it black.
but docs have the most comfortable sole for me.
i like their 10 hole steelcap boots most, when i have to wear boots, but mostly i like vans old school or nike dunks.

I have those exact same Gripfast's, BD. I love 'em and have had 'em for several years now. They still get compliments from friends and strangers everytime I walk out the door in 'em too.

haha, awesome. i like that the burgandy is as subtle as it is, even more so than it appears in the photo. first day i wore them out to a meeting, my client - a 55 year old machine shop owner - was like, "where did you get those, i like 'em!"

I actually used to take a yellow grease pencil to the stitching after polishing my boots, when I cared about such things. Those GripFasts look pretty sweet though, the DM's aren't cuttin' it lately, a pair used to last me 6 or 7 years (and I'm hard on footwear) now I'm lucky if I get 2 years out of a pair. I just buy them now cuz I could never afford them when I was a kid.

the shoes are sweet but it looks like it would take a long time to break in. The back of the heal looks as if it would make a couple blisters. I ahve a pair of Timberlands that are similar, but they do not have the wingtip design. Its a cap toe.

I've had a few pairs of Gripfast and it always surprises me just how quickly they break in because they really do look stiff. There is a break in period, but it's definitely worth it for how long they last and how well made they are.

^ true
the last pair i had hurt like hell during the break in and the stitchingon top near the bend of the toe ripped surprisingly early. turns out, they were too small.
this pair is breaking in very reasonably and feel great already.
