Paul Stanley has heart attack... so Kiss plays as a trio the SAME night!

Three video clips have surfaced from Friday night's (July 27) KISS concert where the group performed as a three-piece. As previously reported, KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was forced to pull out of the show in San Jacinto, California, about 90 miles (145 km) east of Los Angeles after his heart started beating at more than twice the normal level.

Stanley wrote on his web site that he was advised performing would be risky, and the show went on without him, reports Reuters. Fellow principal Gene Simmons told fans the group would play as a trio, and turned the show into a tribute to his ailing bandmate.

"During soundcheck [on Friday], my heart spontaneously jumped to 190-plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern," Stanley, 55, wrote on his site. "Not knowing if this episode was life-threatening made it even more exhausting. After consulting with both the paramedics and a cardiologist at Cedar Sinai, they confirmed my worst fear. They said that I would put myself at risk if I tried to do the show.

"I'm very proud of Gene [Simmons], Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer] for carrying on without me. I apologize to anyone I disappointed and I'll make it up to you when I see you again."

A normal heart rate at rest is about 60 to 80 beats a minute, according to the American Heart Association.

Tachycardia, or rapid heart rate, can cause palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting or near fainting, the group said on its Web site www.americanheart.org.

Wow. I hope he gets better. I bet that was scary. He should start wearing a shirt and looser pants too.

Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

Whats the fuckin difference... get some other dude to get up there with Starman makeup.

Kiss is gonna end up like Menudo... 20 years from now they'll still be playing, just different dudes in the same makeup. And Gene cashing all the checks.

I love Kiss, seen em like 5 times (with and without makeup), but I can't believe they've got other dudes wearing Ace & Peter's makeup. That's a tough pill to swallow.

Paul Stanley did a press release the next day that said he's 100% ok.
