ALL AGES HARDCORE
Well, today I went to an all-ages hardcore show. It was a cool show, plenty of good mosh bands, but one thing that annoyed me was big overage dudes
laying big fucking crowdslays and punches on little 15 year old girls and boys.
Is it just me, or should there be some sort of courtesy when moshing around little girls and real young kids? For them, this is an introduction to
hardcore ... and I know if I was getting this kinda shit beat out of me when I was 14 or 15 then I probably wouldnt have come back to shows. I'm lucky
beating the shit out of people in the crowd wasn't all the rage in Melbourne when I was young. I'm all for moshing, but I dont think moshing should
involve infliction maximum pain on kids who just want to watch the band.
I personally dont care about getting hit myself, I've been to shattered realm shows in New Jersey ... I know what a hard mosh is. Hahaha.
Maybe I'm just getting old, I dunno.

I think the word "mosh" should never be used in the same sentence with "hardcore". I'm durnk an this doesn't have a point I just hate the word.
Dancing at shows is a for real thing, not just running around kicking and hitting people, it's like a suedo-art form almost. The word mosh always
bugged me because that's what people who don't know what hardcore is all about and see pearl jam and nirvana videos associate any type of alternative
music do. Moshing is for jocks who like to act tough running into each other at green day shows, dancing is for people into the scene and into hxc
that have purpose. Thats what I love about hardcore music, it's not some bullshit lyrics that relate to everyone, it's the few scumbags retards and
outcasts that can personally associate with these bands. Drunk ramble, I'm sorry.

i was a 14 year old girl and got many bloody noses at my first hardcore shows. gotta take the good with the bad. theres always gonna be dudes hitting
new kids. usually once you get hit, you realize where you should and should not stand. if the kids don't move after, i blame them.

when i was 15 and i got hit im like, omg what a dick, and now im the one that hits people, usually not intentionally though. and in some cases I say
sorry, others i dont.

The thing is with so many kids today listening to shitty screamo bands and bands like the warriors and evergreen terrace its rare to see young teens
at real hardcore shows. In my opinion we need these kids to keep TRUE hardcore going and scaring them away is not a good idea.

The fat dudes running side to side throwing haymakers into the crowd trying to punch people at Crafter Fest was gay. In 2003 Australia was sweet mosh
in Brisbane, but now I come to Adelaide and Boston Beatdown has come out so now everyone moshes like a fucking retard trying to hurt people all the
time.

Again, I've been drinking and it's just the word "mosh" that bothers me. I love dancing. Granted, I was never a huge dancer at show, but when "my"
song would come on it was time to get down. Let the slipknot fans mosh, I'm gona dance, with a little style and alot of purpose.

2) i agree completely with your point about the terminology. in my 15+ years in the scene, i have never used the word 'mosh' to describe what i do
(did) at shows; it was always 'dance'. i know people like to differentiate themselves from show-goers of other genres, but seeing as how people
'mosh' at fucking avril lavigne concerts and shit, what's the point?
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Yeah man, those fuckbrains better not try bringing that shit to all-ages shows in Melbourne. Come over here sometime, our scene bascially shits on the
rest of Australia. I'm not saying we are all YOT posi dweebs but we take care of each other and theres less macho bullshit than adelaide.
Bummer I couldnt meet up with you at crafterfest but thinking back, I think I know which dude you were .... wearing a white Skarhead jersey right? It
was either you or one of the other 2 people in adelaide who appreciate good thugcore. haha.

Many a great lesson can be learned by a good punch in the face. The interesting thing though is how those fists used to come from people that hated
punk rock/ hardcore kids because it was nothing they'd ever seen before. I'm talking early 80's to early 90's and being a little kid getting beaten
up by gangs of grown men. Hit with a baseball bat? Yup. Hit with a shovel? Yup. Almost run down by a car in a parking lot? Yup. Never fought a
one on one fight until I was out of my teens? Yup. Being a sick, hateful, tense adult because of all that shit? Yup. It doesn't matter though,
they were good lessons. The world is a fucking evil disgusting place and anything that walks on 2 legs is nothing more than garbage to me. Ah, what
the fuck am I rambling about. No money for psych meds, no sleep, agitated, and hungry...

Well, of course I've been drinking again and have limited access to the internet so....Anyway, I duno how all this started but yea back to dancing,
agian I was never a big dancer, I like watching, I've been going to shows for about 9 years now. I remember in high school people would ask what kind
of music I was into and my response was (and still is today) nothing you'd be into. The next question was always "so your into that moshing stuff"
and even back then I would reply no I'm into dancing with my music. Moshing is the retards at any alternative show with their arms up, fists near
shoulders and just pushing off of eachother. Dancing is the two step, the throw down, the STYLE thats been (and I had to sound like an idiot) refined
through years of good breakdowns. Although I rarley if ever watch MTV, I remember watching a show on dancing/moshing whatever they called it and one
of the guys from the Cro-mags said basically when the pearl jam video came out with people jumping off of stages then you (everyone into the real
scene) knew that the line between hardcore dancing and rich frat boys who hadn't been hugged enough become permantlly erased. I propose that before
everyone "rock" countdown on music stations comes on, that sick of it alls video on dancing be played, then a hxc video, then the gay top 10 just so
people know.

mosh was grunge shit and what the news called it

pick up anyone who falls
these were the rules

it all went to shit when idiots from ozzfest went to see hatebreed in clubs
and saw those guys puhing each other and decided hey it's like football only no pads and no ball lets go.
no one is here to get hurt just have fun....

That sums up my opinion on dancing overall. And yes, it is a dance, not a "moshing".
