I actually just recently read the book, got the version which includes several other short stories and now I'm hooked on Richard Matheson. I'm a
little wary of the movie as I have a hard time taking the Fresh Prince seriously and this doesn't seem like intelligent casting at all.

Hmm...IMO he's shed that Fresh Prince image years ago, him and Marky Mark went from pop stars thrust into movies to widen demographics for producers
to legitimate actors. Anything either of those guys are in is just as solid as any other "big" actor in Hollywood. Are they going to be remembered as
the greatest actors of their era...I'd think not but I don't think they have any more or any less credibility in the current industry then actors like
DeNiro or Pacino who have spent the last decade in non challenging roles playing parodies of themselves. Don't get me wrong...I'm not putting Smith
and Walberg in the same league as those two...but they're not doing Rocky and Bullwinkle either.
That being said I don't know that Smith was the best choice for Neville...but from the looks of the trailer they've already taken certain liberties
from the story so they probably thought Smith was the best option to take a story thats been told several different ways on the screen already and
make it a cash cow.

The Gist without specific plot spoilers...
A virus hits, destroys humanity, the virus is akin to vampirisim somehow one guy is immune. He spends his days forraging for supplies and searching
for hope...spends his nights locked up in his fortress of a house while scores of bloodsuckers endlessly scream from him to come out.

thanks, jason.
the preview doesn't make this look like THAT much of a horror movie, though, do ya think? more like a thriller with vampires. maybe part of that
impression is because will smith is in it. i dunno. i'm not a huge horror fan. i mean, i wouldn't go see 30 days of night, but i'd consider seeing
this.

The book is widely regarded as a story that spearheaded horror fiction. All the current "greats" (King, etc) acknowledge it as a huge influence. I
don't however think it was that much of a horror horror novel. It's more of a sci-fi survivalist Escape From NY type story if anything. Omega Man if
you've ever seen it was an "adaptation" of this story. The book was 80% this guy being totally alone and fucked and taking care of business and maybe
20% vampires.

The trailer looks pretty good, but Will Smith has the tendancy to annoy the hell out of me. I don't know if I want to watch a whole movie with just
him. Might check out the book though.

I used to not like Will Smith, or Mark Walberg.
Now I like them both.
They both have come a long way since the silly old stuff they did...

Mark Walberg is insanely awesome in I Heart Huckabees.
Will Smith was great in Pursuit of Happyness.
I'll check this one out, if I can ever get out of the house to a movie. Me and the wife are probably going to check out either Dan In Real Life or
Lars and the Real Girl this weekend.

I really like Mark Wahlberg, it's Will Smith I can't stand. Not because of stupid shit like Fresh Prince, but because of how he comes off in a lot of
interviews and such. To me he always comes off like a cocky, arrogant piece of shit. When I see him my first thought is usually something along the
lines of wanting to punch him in the face, or set the Iron Sheik loose on him to fuck his ass and make him humble.

it wasnt the fresh prince that did it for me, it was just that he kept playing the same funny black dude with his ears sticking out. the charachter in
independence day is the one i'm thinking of.
but whatever.
i'm over it now.
i dig him. nline:
