Band Name Origins...
Not sure if we already had a thread like this or not, but its something that always interests me. I know tons of bands get their names from other
bands songs or references in songs, but Im always curious about where other bands got names too. Anyone know any band name historys?
Heres a few obvious ones:
Hatebreed - from the Misfits
Some Kind of Hate - from the Misfits
Horror Buisness - from the Misfits
Motorhead - from Hawkwind

Heres a couple more:
Fugazi - It's a word that soldier used in Vietnam (similar to FUBAR and SNAFU) and it means "Fucked up, got ambushed, and zipped in" to describe a
soldier that wasn't careful and ended up getting killed and zipped up in a body bag.
Metallica - A friend of Lars Ulrich's was starting a metal fanzine. He was debating between two names for the 'zine-"Metallica" and "Metal Mania". He
asked Lars for his oppinion, and Lars told him that he should definately go with "Metal Mania", because he thought Metallica was the perfect name, and
wanted it for his band (who at the time went by such lame names as Red Vette and Blitzer).

no, but that was the best name they could come up with that had two words that start with B.
EDIT:
The name "Beastie" is sometimes thought to have originally stood for "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Internal Excellence," and that the
initials B.B. intended to mimic Washington DC punk band Bad Brains,[3] however these were actually after-thoughts once the band's name was already
Beastie Boys, according to Mike D and MCA on the Charlie Rose Show, August 28, 2007.
nevermind, another urban legend corrected.

Earth Crisis - despite what the band says, it almost certainly comes from the song and album by reggae band Steel Pulse
