Local Accent or Vernacular

I was having a discussion with some co-workers about different terms or accents here in the US. Most of my co-workers are from Dallas so they say stupid shit like "ya'll" and I say stupid this like "far" for the word "for".

There is the obvious east coast NY/MA goofiness and the south has a goofy twang. I also lived in MN so I know that accent.

What else is out there? Like, what is PA? or OH?

I'm hearing the term "at the end of the day" WAY TOO much as of late. I also hate "same difference".

Not really sure but some west coast and Vermont vernacular really bugs me. I can't stand it when peple say "hella", or "off the chain". For some reason the Vermont "right on" after every sentance drives me up the wall too.

Remember the superfan skit on SNL...."Bears Ditka" etc etc...people really do sound like that through a large portion of the south and west sides of Chicago. North side and perimeter burbs do to a certain downplayed degree and NW Indiana (whose immediate corner is for the most part and extention of South Chicago) has it's own "deep" south side leanings.

There's at least 5 or 6 different dialects in Nova Scotia depending on which shore you're from, or island (my Cape Breton brothers), and I'm not even including the Acadians, if you expand that to the all the maritime provinces I'd say about 10 different, distinct dialects (that's a total guess, albeit somewhat educated).

The South Shore/ Lunenburg accent is one of the more distinct, stronger accents. Anyone from Boston would be right at home. You can also tell a Caper as soon as they open their mouths, but don't ever call them a Newf.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?
