I fucking hate Christian bands. Why? Because they seem so fucking uppity and above everyone. I hate that most "Christian" bands already have huge fanbases just because their "Christian".

And I hate people who try to be friends with everyone, that in itself is fake as shit. If you were being real, you would admit you hate 99% of the people on this planet.

Call me negative or a pessimistic but I don't like the human race. Give me Holy Terror or negacore over christian/posi core hardcore anyday.

I would rather listen to long haired white boys rap over Metal than listen to christian HC or Punk. I have yet to hear a single overtly christian band that is worthwhile in these styles. I'm not talking about bands where the members may all be christians, I'm talking about bands that are about their members' religion.

I have a friend who got religion a while back and suddenly decided that he could only listen to bands that were of his religion. He got big into christian HC and Punk and was constantly trying to turn me onto those bands. He never introduced them as being religious bands, but they always sounded so terrible and like the weakest rip off of some easily identifiable big name (but non-religious) band that played the same style. I always went into it trying to be open minded and hoping that the new band he was so into would be decent, but they never were. I made a definite effort to try to connect with him about these bands because he and I had always connected through music and had always turned each other on to great new bands, but I just couldn't get behind any of those bands no matter how hard I tried to find something good about them.

I just don't think there's anything about people that much into that religion that works in this scene. It makes no sense to me for them to make the effort other than as a recruitment tool. Punks and HC kids have always been seen by mainstream christians as troubled youth and people in need of redemption and I view these attempts to bring their religion into the scene as nothing more than a cheap affectation in order to try to sway the weaker minds over to their way. It stinks of blatant recruitment measures to me and always has.

The only problem I have with Christian bands is the same problem I have with Christians in general. Religious arrogance. I have that problem with Muslims too, and I'm Muslim. I say, we'll do what we do and God will sort it out on the Day of Judgement. I'll be honest, 99.9% of people are doomed.

I can vibe with certain things some Christian bands write about, and some of their music. For instance, I like No Innocent Victim. Some songs not so much, but others are just fine by me. Other Christian bands suck balls, especially ones that have made a point of attacking people not of their faith in their lyrics. Training For Utopia comes to mind there. Fortunately 99% of Christian "hardcore" is more along the lines of wanna be melodic death metal, or screamo and I don't get near it with a 10 foot pole.

Still, the initial post is still funny in its absurdity.

When I was in high school there were a couple christain thrash / death metal bands locally. i thought it was funny. these dudes even had your typical cemetery circa 1991 metal cd covers. theyd be yelling over thrash riffs like demons and then stop between songs to rant about repenting and stuff. Ive never given a listen to any christain punk bands because the 2 words contradict one another if you ask me.

Fuck all religions. They can take their beliefs and shove them up their asses. It isn't enough if you're truly a good person and do good works...you need to subscribe to a bunch of dogma.

Never said why dude. You misread me. Look at the fucking world and tell me most people aren't doomed.

Not saying I'm not doomed myself. Goddamn.

then i am quite certain most people are not doomed.

to suggest otherwise is fearmongering, judgmental and arrogant, imo.

^I'm doubtful of that. Look at the world we live in, and the shit we've allowed to happen. Whether it's the killing of our own species in massive numbers, or the whole sale destruction of the earth to fulfill or appetites to consume and consume useless products that only complicate our lives. I'd say we aren't doing ourselves any favors.

The whole purpose of life itself is to produce and consume, it happens at every level, if you beleive in God, that must have been the divine design set forth right? I just can't subscribe to the whole doom and gloom bleak outlook of organized religion, buying into that is what gives you that mindframe in my humble opinion. Oh and I don't have anything against people using music as a platform to profess there feelings one way or another, I don't even know if I have heard outwardly Christian hardcore. I couldn't get this thing in the beginning because of restrictions to my regional access, but the remark made about it make it seem pretty damn funny indeed :)

Well, I certainly don't subscribe to the notion that the purpose of life is to consume to the point of bringing the world to brink of ecological destruction. We're stepping over our bounds, throwing the natural order outta whack. No other species has the capacity for invention and thus consumption, and over consumption, as the human species. As a person that believes in God, I don't believe we are given that capacity to just consume vorasciously. There's no way the purpose of life can be that humans are intended to produce and consume to the point where our population and consumption become too heavy a burden for the ecosystem to bear and it all collapses. My Holy Book indicates as much. We have to keep ourselves in check because our intelligence has given us the ability to overstep the usual natural means of controlling populations, disease and famine.

Doom and gloom isn't the over-riding outlook of religion. In fact, the whole point of religion is to say "hey, we've got the ability to the highest of all creatures. Beyond even angels, but we've got responsibilities because of our greater abilities."
