Yes. I am an idiot.

I have been trying to save something I just made in Photoshop and it needs to be 300dpi. How do I do that? It isn't just saving it to the highest quality (12) is it?

the 'save/quality' setting is specific only to the jpg format and is completely unrelated to the resolution.
(you might not like this next part...)

in order for a file to be saved at 300 dpi, you must specify that resolution when you first create the new file.
so when you click 'file/new' the resulting window lets you select the dimensions (WxH), resolution (this is where you set it to 300 dpi), mode, etc.

you could resize the first image you created by using selecting 'image->image size' in the text menu, but all that really does is scale your original low-rez image up to a higher resolution, which only really distorts what's there. definitely best to start from scratch.

you can convert it from your current to 300
but it takes time
I have to do it all the time
but if you can rebuild, do it
