a friend of mine was talking about Avenged Sevenfold recently and was trying to tell me that their first 2 albums were hardcore. 
i tired to tell him that even their wiki page says they used to be metalcore and now are just metal.
his reply,
"well, that's what they said."

I think that almost ALL of the "hardcore" bands are actually metal.
