VERY IMPORTANT! HELP IF YOU CAN!

This a note from my friend James. He's making a great film about a serious subject and needs some help. Visit his MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/homelessrockfilm to view more info. Please read and help if you can:

"My name is James Jackson. For the past year and some change, I 've been traveling the USA living homeless while making a real life film about homelessness. I released a short film called SPANGE and promoted on this summer's Vans Warped Tour.

Now I am in the final stages of finishing my full homeless rock film. I'm sitting down at 5pm Saturday (12.08.07) in Martinsburg, WV where I plan to edit the final film for the world. One problem is that I'm still kinda homeless until Monday.

So I'm asking for donations, loans, whatever, to help me get a cheap room for Saturday and Sunday night. If loans, then I will pay you back and then some.

For those who help me, I will also make sure to send you a copy of both SPANGE and my final Homeless Rock Film as well as give you a thanks in the film.

If you would like to help, call me at 917 455 8772. You can send money to me via Western Union. You just need my info:

James Jackson
Martinsburg, WV

Then I just need your name and city that you're sending from as well as the confirmation number once sent.

Thanks for your time and I hope you folks can help keep me off the streets til Monday."

Sorry dude, but it's called get a job, part time if necessary to persue your art. I am not trying to be an asshole here but I am tired of "starving artists" looking for hand outs, alot of people have to work extra hard to make ends meet while still trying to attain whetever dream it is they chase. It is possible.

Again, not trying to argue with you personally, but this particular kind of thing hits home for me. Why does he need a place to stay for two nights if he gets a paycheck regularly? Is he out of town for this project? Just wondering is all

Sounds to me like this guy made the choice to become "homeless" in order to make his movie. That's his choice to make if he wants to do so and more power to him for doing what he wants, but it offends me when people voluntarily put themselves in that position and then ask for help from those of us who work our asses off to get by everyday. This seems like the same mentality of all the traveling crusties who used to hang out in front of the store I worked at years ago in Austin. Some of them had the nerve to get dropped off by their parents in brand new Mercedes and then come and ask me for food we were gonna throw out and beg my customers for change. Fuck that mentality.

I genuinely feel for people that end up on the streets because shit fell apart on them. I've been right on the edge of that myself a few times. I know very well how easy it is for times to turn on you and when you live paycheck to paycheck it can all fall apart in an instant. If not for the help of friends I would have been on the streets just a few years ago and I will never forget that and never stop appreciating the generosity of those people. It only makes me that much more disgusted by the people who voluntarily place themselves in these situations because it's "Punk Rock" or supposedly cool for whatever reason though.

And Joe, I'm not lecturing you, but don't post shit and then tell people they have no right to post their opinions about it. That's what boards are for and that's how they get used around here. You wanna help out a friend, that's commendable and I appreciate the sentiment, but he isn't everybody else's friend and we all have a right to say what we think. On that note, if he's working with a rock star asshole like Armstrong, I think it's quite obvious that he has a very convenient place to turn for a little bit of cash to make it through those next few days.
