I found this interesting

Got this in an email this morning. It was written by a guy in Alberta. The guy makes a lot of sense to me.

Quote:

I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my
taxes as it sees fit.
In order to earn that pay cheque, I work on a rig site for a Fort Mac
construction project, I am required to pass a random urine test, with
which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my
taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque because I
have to pass one to earn it for them ... ?
Please understand - I have no problem with helping people get back on
their feet.

I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their
arse drinking beer and smoking dope.
Could you imagine how much money the provinces would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance cheque ... ?

Please pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.
Hope you will pass it along though, because something has to change in
this country, and soon!

i think its a good idea, but alot of people on assistance are there because of mental health and addiction issues, a lot of times the two go hand in hand, so if you failed said test, I still think you should be eligible provided you enter a substance abuse program. You can't deny people without providing an alternative, remember it is a social safety net and there for just that sort of person. I will qualify my statement by saying that I've worked for every dollar I ever spent, and I lived on the street, had addiction problems, been hungry, been cold, never been on assistance. So I think somewhere between the "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" attitude and the "hell you can even fuck my sister" attitude lies the answer. Now I'm starting to ramble so I'm outta' here.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?
