i can't take any hooligan films seriously.
they always try and make it out to be something more than just a load of blokes beating the shit out of each other when that's really all it is.
pretty much every hooligan film goes the same way, a load of awful cringeworthy dialogue then some good action scenes. i must admit though i am
curious about 'rise of the footsoldier' purely it goes a bit deeper than 'oi oi fackin 'ell let's have it!' and loads of chat about 'there was us and
the leeds havin' it aat in the park, we was all wearing lacoste etc etc'
you wanna see some crazy shit go on youtube and search for 'the real football factories'.
it has danny dyer presenting it who is a total clown (the main character in football factory) but jesus, when he goes to the mainland to meet some of
the hooligans in argentina, croatia, and so on.... that shit is so sketchy it's off the fucking scale. the firms practically control the teams it's
crazy.
when you're done with that, search for the 'real football factories' and 'danny dire' (note the different spelling of the surname) and you'll find a
pretty damn funny pisstake.
i think the best hooligan film is an old bbc film called 'the firm'.
unfortunately it's very low budget and only has about 10 people in it making the firm itself a tad unrealistic.
it hasn't dated too well either but plotwise and acting wise it's one of the best.
