so lets talk about the changes in technology
based on the other threads....
what changes in technology in our generation have made the biggest impacts upon you, that you never would have imagined a few years before they
hit....
cell phones, i-pods, tv's, cars....
I'll start....
computers...
I got my first trs-80 used in like 85-86 and was programming in basic on the ole apple 2e in school, I was like 12
I knew they were important but we were stil being taught about tape reels and all the old school shit...I won the award for best programmer of my high
school of 6000 kids in '89 (10th grade) and due to some things that were out of my hands, (parents moving and such) didn't touch a computer again
until around '99 almost 10 years later....
right at the rise of the net...
in 10 years it want from something I used to make simple ass programs making the screen flash to something where I could own a business and never see
a single customer face to face...
I had no idea I 'd be using them as much I do in '89 when it was just something to fuck with..
but when I got my first new computer in 99 it wasa crappy gateway with like 512 ram, and maybe a 10 gig harddrive...
and the changes in the last 9 years...
I wont even talk about the 2 systems I have sitting below me or the 2 laptops we have... as I wouldn't have guessed it would have changed this much
this quick...

Yeah , I gotta go with computers and music tech. I mean I started with an Apple IIe in 1988 and now have two powerful PC's sitting below me that get
me everything and anything my heart desires. I am able to do music, SD, and HD processing all sitting right here on my fat ass. Tech rules.

I am amazed at how much I like the IPOD. If someone said to me before they came out that you are going to spend $300 for a device that plays the
recorded file of music you already own, I would say they were nuts.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

Me too! I put off buying this thing for a looooooong time. I always told myself the next time I deploy I will pick one up, after all, there isn't much
storage space for personal shit on a ship, and my CD collection is just too fucking big these days to drag anywhere. Hell I'm going to get a docking
station set up for my truck when I get home so I don't have to drag the CDs in and out of my vehicle anymore. It's all about convenience I love my Ipod, like a fag loves hot dogs.

MP3 players, cell phones and Wifi.
I have friends and family members that are jsut getting into this stuff and when I help them set it up or explain it, it blows their mind and they
love the hell out of it.
I started with a Commadore 64. Worked my ass off to buy a disk drive so I could play games like Paperboy.

In my lifetime:
PCs
DVDs
Mp3s / ipods
digital camersa
cell phones
My brother, back in the 80s had all this computer stuff. Back when it was big, bulky, slow, and not so great. We used to make fun of him for always
being in his room messing with it. He's now an Engineer at Dell. MAkes big money. Yook me until 1999 to get on board with computers. I had no money to
buy one so he built me one out of spare crap he had lying around. Now I can't live without one. All the stuff I mentioned are just cool things that
are worlds better than the crap they replaced. Ipods repalced the walkmans and so on. I can not imagine what cool crap is going to come out in my sons
life time

Technology has really made our society run faster but yet we have gotten lazier. It will certainly be mankind's downfall.

I agree. Easy isn't always best.
Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where
cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?
