so what makes an act mainstream?
one that does well with sales or is it something else?
and i heard the album before i knew anything about her so the "selling point" thing didnt happen with me
i thought she was a fat black woman from the south
not a white skinny chick from england
you come at the king....you best not miss

wow, this is serious.
so for those of you who don't like it, is it (at least partially) because it feels like something the industry packaged together and pushed because it
was different? i mean some acts are just so contrived, its painful to look at 'em. you know, ya can see right through the ol' smoke and mirrors.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I finally gave her a listen, and although she has the voice, I never did dig that style of music. As for originality, I have to go with the nay
sayers, it's been done, but I am not taking away from her talent, she has plenty of that. Not my cup of tea. All of that said, what the fuck does this
bitch do that has everyone buzzing about her, I saw she smoked crack or something, is that it?

in the future i will look to you to keep me up to date on all things new, exciting, and original as you seem to be an expert in the field of deciding
such.
and such a MANLY expert at that, what with calling out my wet panties and all.

she never got that much media attention until she started getting publicly wrecked all the time.
she has a great voice.
the first album is pretty good. not really a fan of the newer album but that's probably more to do with the media's constantly reporting everything
she does 'this week amy got drunk in a bar! shock!' etc etc
you literally can't escape her over here. there was a period where she was always hanging round random pubs and bars in the city and now the
newspapers report her every move every two seconds.
i don't really have too much sympathy for her being a junkie and all but look at it this way
there was a thread on here about that dude from blood for blood being into heroin and i read a lot of positive comments from people saying they hope
he sorts himself out.
imagine if the mainsteam media were all over him like that. you'd be sick of the sight of him too.
first time i saw her on tv i thought it was cool how she had a total gutter south london accent but when she started singing it was just like 'wow...
she has a great voice"
clips like this for instance...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjHQV-SuqNE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KnBVJfXHx8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMyQfHWEOh0
my advice is ignore the media circus and just listen to it if you enjoy it

anyone saying she's talentless is just ridiculous. and as far as originality, christ name me a band that's re-inventing the wheel in 2008. there isn't
one. her sound is different than 99.9% of the stuff out there, that's original enough for me. The things i like about her are her strong ties to the
classic soul sound, and the fact she's got a great range and voice but actually knows how to use it. She doesn't feel the need to do vocal acrobatics
throughout every song like all the so called divas out there. she gets it.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, ?You know, I want to set those people over there on
fire, but I?m just not close enough to get the job done.? George Carlin

i find it funny how "hardcore" or "punk rock" people can claim not to like something because it lacks "talent"
that to me is the funniest thing i ever heard

The one thing I wonder is why the fuck she, or anyone for that matter, would do crack. Everybody knows how many lives have been destroyed by doing
shit like crack and heroin.

For the record, I love crack and all of its glory. Nah, just fucking around.
I have never head this gal before but because of all of these antics, I couldn't force myself to like her music. If it is a 60's Soul type of sound
with a female vocalist, count me out any way.
This might be a narrow minded approach but I'm OK with that. I am extremely narrow minded when it comes to music and again, I'm OK with that.

In my opinion, drugs, alcohol, problems, and music all pretty much went hand in hand together. the only exception to that rule would be the straight
edge stuff, but I couldn't give 2 shits about that whole thing anyways so whatever...
