I wouldn't call Madball or NRSV metal.

Will be buying.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

I don't care what ya call em, I still wanna get it
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

Sorry I should of discarded them from the list. I don't think I ever heard them and think I got them confused with someone else. But, as far as
Madball goes, and this is all IMHO, they crossed over many years ago. I always thought they where teetering over that metal edge and then they
started tuning down their guitars and just playing two step mosh after two step mosh with way too much double bass pedal and to me that's pretty much
metal.

So it's just now being released on DVD ? I bought the VHS back around 1999 or 2000 when it was first released.

I'd be interested to know what non-metal bands would have fit the title better during that era?

No that is not metal. Last time I heard Iron Maiden, Slayer, Deicide, Carcass, and or War-bringer were much more than this. They are metal, Madball
compared to them is worthless rubbish.

It was a good video even if your not a big fan of those bands, the live footage is really professional and the interviews are pretty loose/funny. PLus
the Krishna dude with the bird poop smeared on his nose for shiva is pretty amusing.

I would have liked to see it feature...
Agnostic Front
Murphys Law
Sick of it All
Bad Brains
Cro-Mags (or at least J.J. or Harley)
Biohazard
Pete Steel (talking about Carnivore)
Beastie Boys (at least Adam Yaught)
Maybe even dig up some of the "retired" guys for some intereviews...

Yes, down tuned guitars + constant 2-step breakdowns + Over use of double bass pedal = METAL. It's basic music theory. Lyrics are not the only thing
that make a band HC and just cause a band plays shows with HC bands doesn't make them HC.

You know, why wasn't SOIA on it??? It was filmed in 1994/1995 ( right?) and at that point SOIA were by far the biggest NYHC band.
Perhaps it wanted to focus on newer (at the time) bands.

Plus SOIA was on a major label, which would have been a problem getting the rights to use their music.

Well you don't have to pigeon-hole it if you don't want to but they aren't playing HC. You can call it Crossover if you want. What ever floats your
boat.

You still haven't answered what bands from this era would better define HC than those presented.

I would have to go with these:
Warzone
Mouthpiece
Hands Tied
Time Flies
In My Eyes
Speak 714
Ignite (A rock band nowadays)
The Killing Flame (A rock band nowadays)
Slapshot
Ten Yard Fight
Cornerstone
SOIA (They may have crossed over by this time)
Burn
Underdog
One Life Crew (They where crossing over at this point)
I'm sure there are more but I can't remember. I wasn't all that active in HC by that point. And as far as NYC goes there wasn't much going on there
at that point except Warzone/Underdog/Burn and LOTS of fake metal.

Half those bands aren't even from NY? We're talking about NYHC right?
OLC never crossed over, American Justice may have had a bunch of silly skits and dumb shit on it but it was in no way any more metal that CRS,
arguably it could be considered less metal with the PB2K, Confront and Meanstreak covers.

Sheer Terror was at the end of their run, and may not have completley fit the group of bands on it, but i think they should have been on there for
obvious reasons....wait what year was this released? was it after 98?
