awesome) please post it. And any other Damage stuff. You have no idea how much I appreciate all this. Here's the SFA. All with Mike Bullshit (GO!) on
vocals. Great quality. I love these demos, best stuff they ever did by a long shot. When Brendan joined it all went to shit in my opinion. GO! was
great though. I also posted some NYC Mayhem stuff, in case anyone needs it. I dig deeper into my collection over the next few days and see if I can
contribute more to this thread.

I liked Go! as well.
I'm glad was able to continue playing with people that wanted to play with him.
Just curious though... why do you think SFA went to shit when I joined the band?
I'm not trying to argue and I don't mind negative criticism.
In fact, I wrote a long letter praising one reviewer of our 1988 7" who tore us apart in his review.
It was refreshing to hear a harsh negative review that was honest and well explained.
All too often local zines were afraid to negatively review local bands or would politely say it wasn't their taste.
After I joined, our sound changed with our new drummer and my vocals... and I made all the new songs angrier so yes, the SFA of the demos was very
different from the SFA of the albums.
I also know when I first took over for Mike I sucked.
A lot of that was singing Mike's songs and subconciously trying to sing his way instead of my own.
Once we phased out his songs it was different.
It was a lot easier singing my own songs in my own style.
So I'm curious... how did I turn the band to shit?
Thanks
Brendan
PS. Thanks for uploading the old demos.
I lost my copies long ago.
Anyway you could reupload them?

hi brendan,
welcome to the thorp family.
i never liked the stuff mike did with sfa, i have a demo 7" and it sounds awful, never been in mike´s vocal style.
maybe your style is too aggressive for stormy, i don´t know.
what is the situation about sfa now, is the band really dead or will you get together again some time in the future. there are rumours about a
unreleased record.
i saw you ybout 6 or 7 times over here in germany and i really miss you

Back in late 2000 we recorded an album called "Warsongs."
Rather than just releasing the album right away, because we figured this would be our last studio album, I wanted to wait to release it until we were
ready to tour to support it.
This way the label would push and promote it as opposed to it being released without us touring to support it which would hurt the album.
We'd become disheartened with the way the hardcore/punk scene had changed in recent years and wanted to end things with one last big tour and two new
studio albums.
We were also planning to rerelease "Solace" since we owned the rights again after e Bite records broke their contract with us and ruined our artwork
and failed to release "Solace" outside of a small run in Europe.
We were hoping to release the new album as well as rerelease "Solace" with additional tracks and the proper artwork.
The main problem that we have is that all of us are commited to families and jobs and it's hard to schedule the time off to be able to do one last big
tour. It's been almost eight years since we finished work on our unreleased album and I don't care how long it takes... we're not going to release it
until we are ready to tour.
There is also been some internal fighting over the new album. I don't want to get into details and talk about disagreements between band members, but
there are several songs I truly hate on this album. I think we recorded seven or eight songs that I really like and a few songs that I really hate
that I would personally like to dump and just add some live recordings we did to fill it out.

| And I miss Germany.
We always had a great time over there and made a lot of friends... except for the fuckers at We Bite Records.
Touring Europe was so much more fun and easy then touring in the US.

Hey Brendan, i'm not sure if you still even post here. I haven't been here in a LONG time. Anyway i just came across this old thread and figured i'd
reply.
I guess "went to shit" was kind of strong. I own, and like, New Morality, although i haven't listened to it in many years. SFA was one of the bands
that got me into hardcore back in 1987. I heard songs from the first demo on Pat Duncan's show back then, and SFA at that time was pretty much my
favorite band. While all my friends were listening to Suicidal and DRI, i was jamming SFA songs that i would record off Pat's show (including a live
in the studio set, wish i still had that). Mike's bullhorn vocals was one the things i loved about the band, so obviously i was dissapointed when the
vocals changed drastically. The "charm" was gone, no offense. I do like more aggressive vocals in HC (the first Citizens Arrest 7" was one of my
favorite records of the '90s). But for me, it just didn't fit SFA. Anyway, that's all there is to it, when your favorite band changes singers, it
sucks. I'm sure you'd feel the same way. Didn't mean to come off harsh. By the way, i thought it was hysterical when you guys got kicked off FMU after
like 3 songs because you kept cursing. One, two, FUCK YOU! hahaha. great stuff.
As far as the demos go, you can get them on my blog here:
http://www.bloggedquartered.blogspot.com
Mike was nice enough to send me those tapes many years back after i wrote to him, and i converted them to mp3s a few years later. OK, i've ranted long
enough, i don't even know if you'll get this. Take care.
