really? interesting. my step-dad's family is from slovenia, and their last name, martincic, is pronounced mar-tin-sick. maybe that's the americanized version, or perhaps the pronunciation of that spelling is different in different areas of eastern europe. who knew?!

my father showed my the Gaelic version of my last name and it's some 20+ letters and Im sure that 90% of them are all vowels. Anyway... it was shortened and simplified by either my great great great etc. grandfather who came over here or the guy trying to write his name at the immigration place. Of course it was a typical Irish last name and had an "O" before it, but that was dropped for some reason.
