4/23 TEXAS HARDCORE SUPERBOWL

**TEXAS HARDCORE SUPERBOWL**
LAREDO, TEXAS
APRIL 23RD 2005

Here?s the deal.
Some details, directions, and all that jazz.
The TXHC SB is going to be at a new place this year, a reasonably sized open air venue. So no worries about frying your ass off, or sweating it out. The place can hold about 300 people comfortably, there?s an Air conditioned bar in front with a couple of pool tables were people can chill and drink. A small stage, but big enough for you to set up drums and all your equipment and still jump off for crazy pile-ons and such.
DIRECTIONS:
I-35 south, into Laredo. Go aaaaall the way down to the end of the freeway. Now this is where it gets kinda tricky, stay on RIGHT hand lane till you hit the very last light before you get to the US Checkpoint into Mexico. Stick to the slight right curve. DO NOT GO INTO THE HUGE CHECKPOINT.
Turn RIGHT onto ITURBIDE ST. and drive aprox. 4 blocks till you see shit load of people on the left. 1303 ITURBIDE ST.
PARKING:
There will be NO PARKING on the actual street where the venue is.
There WILL be parking all along both east and west side streets. Its metered parking till 6pm, so BRING CHANGE. I?m trying to secure a parking lot for BANDS to park their vehicles at the end of the block.
EQUIPMENT:
We will be providing a drum set. If you can?t handle not playing on your own set, let me know so you can stay home. We are doing this to save time on setting up.
Since this is the GAMC of superbowls, we should be able to share equipment. All of us are friends, so sharing a cab or symbols shouldn?t be that much of a problem.
SCHEDULES AND TIME SLOTS:
There are 16 bands in total. So that means get here EARLY. 20-30 minute sets including set up time. Start time is at 4pm. Whether there are people in the venue or not, the show is starting on time. No trading spots. If one of your members is out, gone, then you get to play on the last spot. There?s some good bands playing at the start of the show, so don?t be late.
4pm: Forty Thieves
4:30pm: Frontline
5pm: Everybody Freeze
5:30pm: Underboss
6pm: Bitter End
6:30pm: Hold Fast
7pm: Full Contact
7:30pm: Die Young
8pm: Your Mistake
8:30pm: Grave Robbers
9pm: Five Families
9:30pm: Ten Crowns
10pm: XInvictus ManeoX
10:30pm: Will To Live
11pm: Blood Ties
11:30pm: Pride Kills
Ending early enough to where you aren?t going to have to kill yourself to drive home.
Since it is a birthday party, we will be actually partying.
Aim me for details.
MEXICO:
Going to Mexico is easy. No you don?t need a passport or a birth certificate to go into the border and shop. During the daytime, Mexico is relatively safe and very tourist friendly.
If you do happen to go across, the bridge is only 2 blocks away from the venue.
Now? Nighttime is a different story. Lots of gangs, lots of shootings, just don?t do it.
If you happen to be offered prescription drugs? that all on you. The way that works is that you pay a doctor from Mexico to give you a prescription that you then fill out at a pharmacy literally next door to the office. The prescription is ONLY good in Mexico. If you try to walk it across they will take your pills, and you can be fined.
HOTEL/MOTEL:
I don?t know if you know the difference, but the Motel has more Hos than a Hotel. That being said here are some addresses and phone numbers of local spots.
Red Roof Inn: Off I-35 near the mall. 1006 W. Calton Rd. (956) 712-0733
Fairfield Inn: 700 W Hillside Rd (956) 753-7053
Extended Stay: 106 W Village Blvd 1-800-215-2167
Go to www.expedia.com for more info.
That?s just about all I can think of for right now.

I have to say that any label that did NOT tap into the market that is TXHC is a fucking fool. What other state in the country could you possibly have a "superbowl" that even compares to the amount of bands (quality bands at that) that Texas has. New York maybe (East Coast)? California maybe (West Coast)? Not a single label (other than Thorp with Pride Kills and My Luck) have even TRIED to tap into this HUGE market that is the Third Coast. It's all good though, cuz if a label is gonna do it... I would rather that label actually be FROM the Third Coast. FORTH SCUM RECORDS MOTHER FUCKERS!!!
Ask yourself this, how many other states in this country could possibly have an all local (state wide) fest like this? It's like Pride Kills says "We should be our own country"!

Amarillo....I got family there. You ever heard of the Cadillac Ranch, Duane? Apparently some rich fucker bought a bunch of old Caddies and buried them nose down in a field so that about two thirds of the car is sticking up in the air at an angle. I stopped by there a few years back and took some pictures, if I had access to a scanner I'd put 'em up here, but that shit is fucking bizarre. Fuck....I miss Texas.

Hell ya! We drove through whatever you call that top nub of Texas during a cross country drive four years ago. We hit up Cadillac Ranch and The Big Texan in Amarillo, and Largest Cross in the Western Hemisphere in Groom, which is creepy as hell at night with those life sized stations of the cross! That trip gave me a tremendous new found appreciation of our country.
