STORY ABOUT BROTHERS HELPING A BROTHER

hey fellas,

my friend steve defstar told me about what happened and how all of you tied in to the message board literally saved a friend...

I can't begin to express how admirable this is and you should all be very proud of rallying to help a friend...
you are all to be commended...

now, that said...I think this is a great story...and I would like to tell it...
firstly, I have no intention of using his name at all...period...it's not necessary...
nor the reasons why this came to pass...

the story, in my opinion, is about a community of friends, from all across the country, who come to this board to share stories about music, shared interests, and just basically...life...
and how, when they knew a friend was in trouble, did not sit idly by and do nothing...
but took up the responsibility to save a person who was important...

thoughts?
I'm doing a label piece on Thorp...
this would be a great accompaniment to show how this board, in many ways, symbolizes the strength of hardcore...
and I'm not talking a bout music...
I'm talking about loyalty, brotherhood, family...
strength in numbers...

so...those who would like to help me do this, email me here:
jwalsh@wvec.com

like I said...confidentiality is key to your friend and the whys...
the story is in what you all accomplished here...

I look forward to hearing from you all...

No offense, if you're a friend of Steve's I already know you're a good dude, but I think this is a little too sensitive, at the moment.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

agreed.

After everything is cool again I think it should be up to Mike with no pressure.

I wouldn't want my story out there for the world.

I agree. I know J comes with great references and his intentions are nothing but positive. I just think it is better kept here in the Family. Sorry J. If there are others ways I can help you, I'd be happy to. I hope you understand Bud.

i gotta agree. as much as this is a public forum, this is an in house thing. plus i'd never wanna cause mike any more grief y'know, especially since things are still pretty fresh and up in the air

I agree with what all the other regulars just said.
I do find the whole situation to be very touching the way everyone came together for our man Discipline. I just think right now it should stay hereamongst thepeeps he knows and stuff.

jsinn,

I hope you don't get the wrong impression by the responses. Really, this is just a sensitive issue and the decision lies with the one guy who's not around to give permission... and unfortunately, we still don't know how shit's gonna turn out for him. I think it's safe to say that we appreciate your intentions, but it shouldn't be up to us to make this decision.

About the other stuff you said, I just wanted to throw out some comments.

Gotta be honest, it sounds like a pretty boring story if you leave out the details (i.e. the reasons why this came to pass). It basically amounts to "tough guys (and girls) go emo on message board for days on end over some guy they don't know."

Much as I appreciate the sentiment, nothing that was done should be commendable... it should be normal and what each and every one of us is expected to do. I always get annoyed when doing the shit that we should do anyway is somehow elevated to the level of doing something special.

In the end, I'm just happy BD had access to some info that let him know he found the right guy and could make the right calls. Otherwise, there probably wouldn't have been anything that could be done.

Keep it in the family, I say. I Discipline is into letting the story out sometime when things are settled and cool and he's got himself collected, that's his call.

Besides, anonymous or not... anyone that checked out the Thorp boards because of the story would catch on quick. And I'm not about tooting my own horn... can't speak for anyone else. And what random said is right... this isn't commendable, it's like a sort of duty. I barely even know most of these cats on here and I've only ever met a couple of guys, and given the tight knit of this place I just sort of expect this kind of well wishing and support of myself and of them.

Disciplines story, disciplines decision. Given enough time though I do agree it would be a very uplifting story to tell, amongst todays fucked up news, stories like what took place here give a glimmer of hope.

after thinking a lot about this,I was getting ready to write almost the exact same thing as Dave.
Also,I like the Thorp board just the way it is...just a small group of us now,who get along pretty damn good...but after the board gets mentioned in AMP....we may get a ton of new "Junior Members" coming in and fucking up this thing of ours.
This could be good for THORP RECORDS...but not so much for our board. But thats just my opinion, the other guys may want some new blood here....but I kinda doubt it.

Spoiler, you make a very very good point. If Discipline's name remains a secret it also means all us regulars will get bugged about it too. Not that I mind updating friends about his well being but not strangers who read about it in a magazine.
