His last movie The protector is probably the best martial arts movie since Bruce died. He is absolutely phenomenal.

He had a previous flick before that which is essentially a Bloodsport rip-off, but dude makes it soooo worth the watch. It's called Ong Bak.

This made me think OB2 would be sequel but from that trailer it seems to be a whole different concept.

Rent The Protector like yesterday, 90% of the movies running length is fight scenes and it doesn't get boring for a second. One of these scenes is a 20 minute long tracking shot through a multi leveled mall with no editing breaks, fucking amazing.

Plus then you can say you saw dudes get fucked up by a crazy little man with elephant bones strapped to his arms.

me and donnie go all the way back to drunken tai che, straight outta the early 80s. i got that shit on VHS!

as much as i like him in once upon a time in china, (definitely) iron monkey, and hero, i always think of him as kind of a pretty boy, and have a hard time with the idea of him as a serious ass-kicking leading man.

that said, flash point has been added to the netflix queue!

Flash Point is tight. I bought it a week ago. Love it. Check out Killzone too. Him, Sammo Hung.

Drunken Tai Chi is hilarious.

I just went to an AICN screening of this last night. AMAZING.

The plot seemed really ambitious at first, almost had a Kurosawa type of moodiness too it, but gradually collapsed catastrophically as the film progressed.

But, this is a Tony Jaa movie right....what about the fight scenes? Masterful. I hope this guy sticks around and doesn't do something stupid because he is easily in class with the greats this guy has the grace and skill of Lee and the daring of Chan.

I won't go into spoilers, just know there's more epic fights involving weapons than just about anything I've ever seen and Jaa transitions amazingly between mutliple fighting styles. and yes...he fights on a fucking elephants back.

Part 3 is strange so far. 1 and 2 ruled though. That elephant scene was kick ass. Dude also whooped an alligator. Bad ass.

Ong Bak 3 is fully concerned with enlightenment rather than ass kicking. Jaa became a monk twmporarily during the filming of 3.
