my great escape

I made my great escape from the family today. Started off with my bus not stopping at my stop, so this big mess to get ahold of the car rental people that were supposed to pick me up to let them know I was at a different bus stop. They went to the bus station (right down the street) so it took them an hour before they could find me.
Heat wave going on right now so it was around 115 degrees.
I finally get my car and I'm on my way.
I get super lost trying to find the town that the festival I'm going to tomorrow is. It's very hard to ask and get directions when you don't speak the language.I finally find it, so then I'm on a quest to find a hotel near by.nothing. I keep driving and find this run down place. It's still pretty early so I wanted to stay at a place with at least a pool, so I keep driving.
I get to a little town on the beach that has a pretty nice hotel. A little more than I wanted to spend but I figured why not after the last 3 weeks of hell I spent.
I go for a dip in the beautiful pool, take a shower and decide to head threw the little town to find a place to eat. Nothing looks good so I just stop for some beer and head back to have dinner at the hotel.
I go down for dinner and notice some metal dudes at a table near by, then it dawns on me, Oh shit, it's Opeth! So like a nerd I asked them if they were and they invited me over. So we ate and drank and drank some more. We sang 'eye of the tiger' and 'summer of 69' and some other great tunes. It as awesome considering I thought I'd be spending the night solo.

So I got a week to try not to get myself in trouble. So far so good.

Not for me. I'm having a good time, everyone is super friendly considering how much they hate Americans. But I love and do miss the states.

When I got here almost a month ago one of the first thing I noticed was all the graffiti everywhere. I asked my cousin if it was like a gang thing or what it ment. She said there was no 'gangs' or any real violence, it all in Greece, it all had to do with the football teams. Driving around yesterday I noticed a bunch that said 'RED SKINHEAD'

Morbid Angel were amazing, I've seen them a hand full of times and feel like everytime they just get better.
Opeth was really good ofcourse.
Cavalera Conspiracy were good. I missed the last 20 minutes (since Carcass was going on the other stage) but he didn't have his son play drums while I was there.
Carcass was fucking awesome. I couldn't believe how tight they sounded after all these years.
I left after them. I was beat, got to the show pretty early, stayed in the shade the most I could, but still got burnt (heat waves blow), and was standing almost the entire time. After I left there I got super lost trying to find a hotel, I went to three that were sold out. 3 hours later wound up in this nice little place where they gave me a suite for cheep because I think I looked like I got hit by a bus at that point. I also have no clue how I got here, therefor no clue how to get anywhere.

Another adventure here I come!

Today a drove around a bunch through the city Glifada trying to, and eventually finding the Harley Davidson shop. The streets of Greece are basically run by motorcycles (though I've only seen one Harley, they don't like this heat). Here it's 100% common to see a bike weave through thick traffic and pass everyone to get to the head of the line. Greek people are fucking crazy drivers anyway.

After that I continued down the coast and went to the Temple of Poseidon.

Now I'm at a little hotel with a rock hard bed. I really have no clue yet where I'm going to head to tomorrow.

Good times.
