i think i broke up with coffee

i usually have one cup every morning. last week, i had some stomach virus and didn't eat much and definitely wasn't drinking my morning joe. better now, but still not drinking it.

it wasn't the caffeine i was worried about, but i take mine light and sweet, so it was the sugar. anyways, no coffee for the past two weeks. no withdraws. certainly less sugar in my day. we'll see.

In an effort to cut down on coffee (aka artificial sweeteners) I have done away with all sweeteners. Now I have two cups black at work. One in the morning, one in the afternoon. So far so good.

No sweetner, Ruins the taste of coffee, if I want sugar I can have candy.

Cream enhances the texture of the drink however so it's permissable.

Go Joe.

french vanilla, extra cream, regular sugar.
I don't like the taste of actual coffee, I like all the crap that flavors it.

HUGE coffee drinker and only black, anything else destroys it for me. Check out www.ravensbrew.com my favorite is the dead mans hand. It lives up to it's reputation and then some.

I won't drink coffee without a shot or two of espresso in it. Every day. If I'm not drinking beer after work, its always ice coffee.

I went from drinking 2-3 Great Ones from Dunkin Donuts a day to nothing at all for the last year. I feel much better. I was definitely addicted to coffee. I felt like shit if I didn't have one to start my day off.

BD, if you wanna avoid the sugar, but decide to go back to coffee get yourself some agave nectar. It'll give you the same sweetness as sugar without all the nastiness of that particular white powder. I was very skeptical that it would be an acceptable substitute, but I tried it once and use it every day now. It's not artificial or some kooky hippie replacement thing, it's just a natural sweetener that doesn't raise the glycemic index and so a lot of diabetics are switching to it. I would recommend a brand called Madhava, they have quite a few varieties including some flavored ones like vanilla, irish creme, cappuccino and such. It comes from the agave plant, yeah the same plant that tequila is made from, but it doesn't have any of the effects of that substance either.

I got some headaches for a while but that stopped. I was just so sick of the feeling of tension that coffee gave me that it was worth it. Plus I started hitting the gym at the same time so I was getting that kick in the ass that coffee gives you from a natural source. It was much better than way.

i'll look into the agave nectar.

the sugar was my problem. every morning i'm pouring these two huge scoops of sugar into my mug, and i'm thinking, "you fat fuck. the last thing you need a mouthful of sugar with every cup of coffee."

like matty, i have been drinking some green tea.

I stopped drinking cold turkey one day, and was so fucking lethargic for about 2 weeks. I was falling asleep at my desk and couldn't concentrate. I felt like a million bucks after those two weeks though. I eventually started drinking coffee, but not everyday. I don't need it to wake up. I just drink it sometimes because I enjoy it.

I am going out this morning to grab a succulent cup of coffee from Caribou Coffee.

Mahogany Blend.
