Thorp Records iPod / FDLS Contest

In case you haven't heard, we're having yet another awesome contest...

The 100th person to purchase FORDIRELIFESAKE's DANCE.PRETEND.FORGET.DEFEND from the THORP RECORDS ESTORE by September 14 will win an iPod loaded with every THORP release. Prizes will also be awarded to those making the 101st and 102nd purchases. Start shopping!

And to answer what I'm sure will be everyone's first question... as of this post, no we have not sold 100 copies. Good luck!

Fine print:
1. Contest runs from August 1, 2004 until September 14, 2004 (when the album will be available in stores everywhere).
2. Only purchases made through the Thorp Records E-Store count toward the total.
3. The winner will receive an Apple iPod (make and model of our choosing) loaded with every Thorp album available as of the contest date. Second & third place winners will receive assorted Throp Records and FORDIRELIFESAKE merchandise.
4. If 100 copies are sold, the winners will be notified on September 15. If 100 copies are not sold, no prizes will be awarded.
5. To participate via mail, send a letter to Thorp Records PO BOX 6786 TOLEDO, OH 43612. Your entry will be added to the count based on the postal cancellation date.
6. Thorp Records and Merch Now staff and family members are not eligible.

Listen, there are 12 days left, and we have not yet sold 100 copies of DANCE.PRETEND.FORGET.DEFEND from the Thorp Store, so the contest is still very much open.

I'm really surprised this hasn't gotten more of a response. I mean, maybe I'm just too much of a nerd, but to me, the cost of a cd is well worth the chance to win an iPod... never mind one that is loaded with like 45 cds! Am I missing something?

If I was even slightly into that band I would probably be all over this even though I'm broke as fuck, but I really can't afford to spend money on a CD just for the possibility that I'll get the prize. I would say that I wish you had done this for the Blood For Blood CD, but that wouldn't make sense for such a huge band, I guess. Anyway, my point was just that I'd really really like to win that iPod, but I'm not trying because I can't afford it.

I've already got "dance.pretend.forget.defend"CD. There are chaos, beauty and emotion. What more can I desire in it? Everyone is too modest to get this masterpiece together with Ipod.
Btw, I think that "dependent on atention" is not the best song to prelisten...

I find it odd that this iPod thing has been up for a couple of months now... Are you saying that they haven't reached 100 album sales yet?

.fuck you and all you stand for.

All right, you fuckers, we're extending the contest until October 1. I can tell you we're close, and another two weeks should get us to the magic number, so hit the estore, and buy the cd!

Obviously, we REALLY want to give away an ipod!

If one person orders 2 of the same CDs - does it count as 1 or 2 for the count?

Also - feel like clueing us in on how many have been sold so far out of the 100?;)

the contest is language is specifically worded "The 100th person to purchase FORDIRELIFESAKE's DANCE.PRETEND.FORGET.DEFEND..." for exactly that reason. if one person buys 100 cds, they'd sill only count as one in the tally.

i can't say were exactly we are in the count, but i can say that we have not yet sold 100 through the thorp store, and that if the rate of sales continues as it has since the beginning, we will reach 100 by october 1. so it would be fair to call this the final stretch!

I've never got into this band so if it was any other Thorp release I would win.
Maybe I'll buy it in a week and if I win I'll sell it and keep the prize ;)

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

I know you've all been waiting for this news, so here ya go...

The winner of the THORP RECORDS / FORDIRELIFESAKE contest is Marcus Myers of Fort Collins, CO.

Unfortunately, we did not meet the '100 copies sold' requirement of the contest. So since Marcus was the last person to buy the CD on September 30, we have decided to give him 10 Thorp CDs and 2 Thorp t-shirts of his choosing, as well as a fordirelifesake poster.

So does this mean the iPod gets put up for the next contest? Or are you pocketing it and rubbing it in by saying that's what you're listening to right now, Duane?

well, hopefully you like the disks at least.

even though the contest didn't really work out, i'm glad we did it. ...and i'm sure marcs is as well. we're planning a few other thing like this for future releases, but the right cost/benefit has to be found - giving away an ipod having sold less than 100 disks would have been too much of an expense. and you know how it is - we can't be loosing money if you want us to sign more bands!

anyway, if you have any (feasible) ideas for other contests, let us know.

Do it with the Sheer Terror DVD release.
