Thing I don't get "Only Living Witness" - they played two awesome shows but really? Best of the year?

I don't understand a lot of the logic behind many of the selections. OLW are one of my all time favorite Boston bands and I think they were often
overlooked during their career. But how about us as a punk band? Against a band from LA, a ska band, a stoner rock band and a band that doesn't have a
record out? I hope Jason Bennett wins the category but it is kind of flattering to be mentioned.

i think 'the truth can be brutal' has a punk sound but there are more "punk" sounding bands out there. don't know if i'd call you guys a punk band.
i have to look at the link

Who picks these things anyway?
It seems like people who book some of the clubs. I mean yeah I wouldn't lump your Unloved stuff in punk, but I wouldn't put Jason in their either. You
guys play great rock n roll.
I wasn't downing OLW in anyway either, I had a blast at the show. It was a ton of fun, and brought me back to the mid 90's. But, they are not an
active band.

Jason's music is very consistently fast and energetic where we go for slower songs and may only have one or two faster songs. So I don't see his
nomination as being a poor fit.

I love his stuff, and all the guys in the band are cool. I wasn't saying they don't belong there, just that all of the bands were more rock/ska/etc.
than punk. They are probably the closest to punk in the category. But, I bet he would call the band punk influenced rock and roll as well.
I have probably seen them more this year than any other local band, so it's not a dis.

i think jason belongs in the punk category. especially with the ep. it's very clash influenced.
mark, i think if they put the unloved material that was a bonus for compulsive fuck up, that would be way off. going off the truth can be brutal
though, that's not entirely far off. this only going by recordings though and not live shows.

Hey I'll take the plug from them. If it draws some new people to check us out then what do I care what category we're in? I just feel like there are
probably some punk bands in town today wondering why the hell we're mentioned in there and their bands aren't. And I wouldn't blame them if they
looked at it that way.

Yeah, Ashers are damn good, but probably not on the proper radar yet.

Eh, whatever. You guys are great and you have a History in the punk world. Congrats to both you guys for the nominations.
Punk is a broad genre that is constantly changing. Boston punk is mostly heavy influenced by rock right now. I'm happy to be in the area right now.

Next year.
I am pretty surprised that Far From Finished and Everybody Out weren't included though.

Esp Everybody Out due to Barton. It doesn't surprise me about FFF because, again, they're probably not on a lot of those people's radar, even though
they're on Think Fast! and tour all the time.
Remember how long you were around before anyone in the "grown up" world recognized the Ducks?

Yeah, the mainstream radar is a bit wonky there. They were even slow on DKM.

In addition to Ashers, I'd like to see Refuse Resist nominated next year. They've come a long way in a relatively short period of time.

I have a feeling that Refuse Resist will be one of those bands that MarkV is describing..... popular in the underground of Boston Music.... booking
and playing all the big all ages shows.... earning a loyal fan base and then never getting any respect from the elders of Boston rock. That is not a
bad position to be in. Bands like The Unseen and Blood for Blood never got 5 seconds of respect from those people but they've both wracked up over
100,000 sales of CD's in the US.

Yeah, I don't think BFB ever were nominated for the BMAs. They got a nod once or twice from the Phoenix BMP though. As did the Unseen. Actually, I
think the Unseen were nominated for a BMA a few years back.

Me too. I love the new Welch Boys' CD. Best punk CD of the year (tied with The Loved Ones but they're very different styles)

Thanks Mark, that is a big compliment. It's a place where I'd like to be. Not there by any means yet, but we are having a hell of a time playing out.
Also, I agree with you guys and the Welch Boys. They deserve to make it into something like that, although their CD did just come out and they don't
play often, so I can see why they are overlooked.
