Showtime announced today that based on the performance of Dexter’s first three seasons, the network is re-upping for two more. At Showtime Fan HQ we
think that’s kinda a no-brainer, but we’re psyched nonetheless.
Here are the deets, according to the Showtime press release:
Seasons four and five will consist of 12 episodes each, with production on season four set to begin next spring in Los Angeles. In the announcement,
VP Bob Greenblatt praised the cast, producers, novelist Jeff Lindsay, on whose work the series is based, and star Michael C. Hall for bringing Dexter
to life with depth and grace.
“I thought at best we would attract a devoted cult audience but soon realized that, ironically, this show is so thematically rich and layered with
humanity that audiences of all kinds have flocked to it,” Greenblatt said.
Indeed, the Season 3 premiere hit ratings records for Showtime, drawing more than 3 million viewers in its first week (yes, they’re counting repeat
airings. But still, that ain’t too shabby). Dexter was the network’s top-rated series last year and the DVDs of Seasons 1 and 2 are among Showtime’s
most successful sellers, as are its iTunes downloads.
Like we said, renewing the series is kinda a no-brainer.

Haven't even started watching Season 3 yet  Oz tv sucks, will download when its
completed.
