Reptillian Records closing

Say goodbye to a Baltimore landmark.

Quote:

Change is coming to Reptilian Records. REAL change, not the hollow
political catchphrase. Ironic that our logo is a dinosaur, as
independent record stores are gong that way... However, faced with
extinction, we choose to evolve.
Reptilian the store will close on Jan 18th. That's right, after 19
years it is time for change. We are having a major clearance sale now,
pulling many crazy items out of storage and dropping prices like
bombs. Our webstore is also having a sale for the out of town types!!
This is your last chance to stock up on great music and get cheap
gifts for your precious friends for the holidays. This is your last
chance to be one of the cool people who can honestly say they shopped
at Reptilian "back in the day", even though the day is past and dusk
is here.
Things are still coming together as far as our plans for the future,
stay tuned for updates, but come cash in on our clearance sale NOW!
More news soon.....

Chris X

Saw that on myspace, it sucks. When I lived out there I was in there two or three times a week.

I heard great things but online they were a disaster to deal with. I won 2 auctions and both were terrible. However they did correct it so that is a good thing.

I ordered from them a few times and never had a single complaint.

Place was always cool to visit. Haven't been there in 12 or 13 years, though.

it´s always sad to read that another independent store closes. we have the same situation over here. most of the small shops close, cause they can´t hold the prizes the internet mailorders have.
i hate this and love going in a shop, drink some beer and listen with other guys to new music...

Too many independant shops have/are going under. They can't compete with the chain stores, internet sales, and downloading. It's a fucking shame. There's a couple of places I used to go to that closed down that I loved. The people that worked there were cool, were great for recommending bands based on what you liked, great selection of independant labels and zines, etc. Too bad most kids today don't know the joy of going to a record store and flipping through the stacks to find some cool new treasure.
