what smaller bands are you listening to?

i tend to only hear about bands once they've floated up to a certain level.
hit me up with recommendations of some smaller bands with good potential.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Dean Dirg. Crazy fucking German band that sounds like Negative Approach meeting The Briefs in a dark alley. I know that sounds like a combination that could never work, but somehow these guys make it sound fucking great. Super catchy and clean, angular guitar riffs with pissed off vocals at 200 mph. Think sped up Brit 77 meets raw early 80s midwest HC.

Best new band I've heard in a long time. A word of warning though, last time I went to their myspace, most of the songs they had up were the kind of weird sounding jokey songs that they might have one of per record, so I wouldn't really judge 'em by that too much. They have a CD out called 26 Kicks To Make The Whole World Pay which is a US release that has two of their albums on it and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who finds it.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.
