Murder rate, schmurder rate, Philadelphia is a great place to live and has a rich history and the best fatty foods you can sink your teeth into. We got wooder ice, the best soft pretzels, mega fries, and the almighty, world renowned cheesesteak.

Haha. There's a good argument dude... you might get shot, but at least there's a bunch of boring tourist attractions AND other ways to kill yourself!

The Mutter Museum and the Franklin Institute are far from boring tourist attractions IMHO. And you always can go to a Phillies game!

Most history shit is boring unless you have a genuine interest in it though.

Philly FTW.

I love that I can never predict what threads will get a ton of responses. I didn't expect much to this one. :)

matty- I like the city a lot. And if anything, it seems like everything is getting cheaper now that all the businesses are going under and having massive sales.

I know a chick that I grew up with moved there for a job and came back a heroin junkie. Ya no kidding. It really was a shame.

Lived withinn blocks of the city my whole life.
I love Philly.
It has it's problems.
It has a lot of them.
Some areas are getting more expensive.
Some areas that used to be shitholes have been rebuilt.
As for the murder rate, most happen within the same areas, and most getting shot are for a lack of better phrase, up to no good.
Would I want to live elsewhere, well hell yeah southern california looks like paradise to me.
But it's my home, and I actually get a little offended when people bad mouth it, but whatever. People love to trash Philly. Fuck em.

random - that's true actually. there is a hell of a lot of sales on right now.

i was in Philly for a few days after the Sheer Terror reunion in 2004.
it weirded me out as i'd been in New York for so long and I'd got so used to the towering skyscrapers everywhere that i wasn't used to seeing so much of the sky haha

we stayed on South St and didn't really venture away from there apart from to go to the Very warehouse.
It reminded me of Brighton in the UK.

i thought the cheesesteak was simultaneously the most tasty and unhealthy thing I've ever eaten.
it was like eating 8 big macs all at once.

went to some show there but it turned out to be that reptile guy from the jim rose circus or something.
we lasted about 5 minutes before walking out.

Funny thing about cheesesteaks... even the vegan/vegetarian "cheesesteaks" are simultaneously the tastiest and most disgusting thing ever.

For real though, I love Philly. It really did become home for me, but I've gotta bad mouth it from time to time to feel alright about moving away. Even my wife, who wanted to move in the first place because she "hated" Philly so much last year misses it.

There's just something about Philadelphia that seeps into your pours and never leaves you. I don't think it's the pollution, because Jersey is worse and I absolutely do hate Jersey.
