cell phone program can identify any songs playing on the radio!?
I got one of these on my iPhone. I think its called Shazam and its amazing!
I was trying to trick it and I couldnt do it. I played Motorhead 'Ace of Spades' and it knew what it was. Then I played Blood for Blood 'Ace of
Spades' and it knew it was BFB. I played 'She' by Snapcase and it knew it was Snapcase and not the Misfits. I played 'Donna' by the Misifts and it
knew.
The most obscure one... I played 'My War' by Black Flag and it knew the band and song. Then I played 'My War' by the band My Ruin and it knew! Even
weirder... on the My Ruin CD 'My War' is a hidden track and it came up as 'Bonus Track'.
How does this thing work!?

A couple of my friends have that application. I'm fairly certain it is evil.

does it plug in or just pick up the audio sound waves?
do the sound waves come from the phone itself or from any audio source

its soundwaves and it can be any audio source. I did it to a song playing in the waiting room at the doctors, a song on regular radio, song on
satalite radio and a bunch of songs on my iPod.
Some things came up with 'info not found', like Last Rights for example.

You just hold it up to the speaker of the car radio or home radio and it figures it out.

how about the iPhone app called "snap tell"......where you can take a picture of any book,CD or DVD and it will tell you what it is,a description of
it and links to ebay ,Amazon,Wikipedia and several more.It somehow reads the picture.
or the new Google app that is voice activated....no typing needed.It searches for what you speak.

I just tested it with my buddy's IPhone. It didn't recognize Koffin Kats but it recognized Fear and Nosferatu.
Singing Kiss into it doesn't really work, unfortunately.
