I got the first 2 albums, some good stuff on there. Haven't listened in a long time though.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

he went too pop too fast.
or should i say, he was purely marketed toward little kids.
there's no denying he's a very skilled rapper though.

I don't like any of his songs but that video is pure gold. Nothing but ball breaking celebrities. I love it. Also, anything with Bobby Lee from MADTV is gold in my book.

The dude is as fake as they come. He aint tough, he aint a gangster and his shit is as pop as a pop tart.

Go see my hip hop I have been digging as of late thread and that is what real rap is, not this crap. Eminem is to rap what Limp Bizkit is to hardcore.

he definitely shouldn't have taken the whole thug route as it's never really washed.
he reminded me a lot of kool keith when i first heard him.
just kinda goofy sounding rap with a dark side to it, kinda like Cage to whom he was often compared and with whom he beefed for a while.
then he started writing records about himself being famous and it all became a bit ridiculous.

i'd say he's more to hip hop what metallica is to metal.
he made some classics then became self obsessed, totally lost the plot and made a bunch of shit records.

i'd never really noticed until a couple of years ago when someone put it to me but listen to Eminem then check out Masta Ace (or vice versa) and it's quite shocking how much Eminem bites his style.

I have never really heard him do this. If it happens in the La Coka Nostra stuff it would be because Slaine and Big Left are in the band as well and they are DMS guys.

That is one of the best verses on any hip hop album. He has a solo record out as well and it is really good.

Never got into anything but BIZ MARKIE, BDP, tribe called quest, de la soul, beastie boys, Gang Star, kool moe dee, ll cool j, public enemy, nwa etc. Shit like that. I ain't defending eminem and I ain't a fan of his but I will admit dude writes great hooks and is funny. It works but it sucks that teenage hoes and white trash think he's the shit. I write him off simply because that.

Im sure it was a La Coka Nostra song, but just because other guys are DMS doesnt mean he has to referance it too. thats like saying if I rapped with 2 guys that drank a lot I would have to rap about drinking. Just my opinion.

As is Danny Boy. Everlast may be as well. LCN are pretty much considered a "DMS group."

But even in you're not, and other guys in the group are, it makes total sense to reference it in regard to them.
