I've seen some of the videos of him in BJJ tournaments. I've also read that since he has no feet, he's always considered in the "downed" position, so
no foot strikes to the head.
My real response? It's a novelty, and he'll be competitive in against the guys he fights in local shows, probably guys with 0-0 records or something
close. He'll never be a top fighter, but I also don't think that he believes he will be, either. It's a challenge for him, something more than a
competitive high school wrestling record and respectable performance in BJJ tournaments, and I respect him for that.
Do I think it's a great idea? No. A terrible idea? Not as much as it sounds, since the rules become de facto modified due to him always being in
the downed position.

Oh, and this is an even bigger embarrassment for Alabama's lack of a regulatory committee... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ruvhs1Ua-0w
They also don't mention the boxing match will be inside a cage because all the other fights are MMA fights in a cage.

I don't think he should fight MMA period. He has an inspirational story and is a great wrestler, but he simply can not compete pyshically at an MMA
level. He may be in excellent shape and a natural athlete but he lacks the range of motion for a solid striking game offensively or defensively. Its
a one legged man in an ass whooping contest.

Yeah, but he's like 3' tall and is always in a downed position, so it's basically grappling with fist strikes allowed. Unless you punch downwards to
his face (i.e. A.Sivla punching Leitas' legs) then it becomes a grappling match, and he can be legit there. Also, keep in mind he's fighting
135lbers, and I doubt the guy getting paid $250 in Alabama is cutting weight. It's not like he's fighting Miguel Torres. Realistically, give him a
chance with a ref who can stop it when necessary. If he's good, let him keep fighting at his level. If not, it's done. Not a huge deal.
