Hiking with the dog

Since its been nice the last couple of days I've been hitting the woods as often as I can when the sun is shinning. I took my dog Rita along to get her out of the apartment. She had a really good time. Here are a lot of pics. Post pics of your pets as well.

At this bridge Rita saw a wild turkey and took off after it. I didnt get a pic of that though.

She was done halfway through the hike. I was afraid she wasnt going to make it out. She did the same hike just fine the week before though.

First off, Rita is absolutely gorgeous. What a looker. Second, the woods near you are incredible. So jealous. Thirdly, this is my boxer/pit mix after a full day of jumping in the river, chasing rabbits/squirrels and hiking in the woods.

you're dog seems to hold up better after a long day of activity then my Rita. How old is your dog? Was he a rescue or did you get him from a breeder? Post some more pics of him.

my girlfriend thinks your dog is the handsomest, and it reminds her of the boxer her old dirtbag room mates had that they didn't treat so well.
he looks like a happy pooch

Jimmy is 2.5. He was a rescue. Someone slapped him up as a puppy and tossed him out. Some gal in KC fostered him, put his info up on petfinder.com and we adopted him site unseen. We have had him for about 1.5 years. He is starting to come around. The key with him is exercise. He is HIGH HIGH energy and wants to kill every little animal that comes near our house. He is just starting to mature. He is 72 pounds and his chest and neck just got bigger. I had to expand his pinch collar. I am a giant fan of pit bulls now. I wish he was bigger but he is strong as an ox.

Here's Jim's latest trick:

Here's another recent picture of the kids. He is protective of her, even with me. He knows to give you a warning before he does anything. People learn not to make a move towards her. He'll stand between her and other people. He also follows people when they leave the room. Once they get to their destination, he'll come back to the group. If the person doesn't return in a few minutes he'll go look for them.

We had Jim at Petsmart and a local no-kill/rescue group were there. They had a femal brindle boxer there. She was two or three. Could have been his sister. She LOVED him. He was not impressed. I would have taken her home in a second. I love boxers the most.

The dog is looking great man. It's great to get them out in the woods and nature and let them rip around.

Here is a new pic of Vader. He is 11 moths old now and 105lbs. He just starting to fill out now.

^^^^^^^^^^ AHAHAHHA. That awesome. Your dog reminds me of Mike Muir. Let me see if I can find the photo.

Just open up the HOW WILL I LAUGH TOMORROW cd and he stands just like your dog.

Photobucket

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use an HTML code or an IMG code.

Anyway.. that's my baby keeping an eye on the groundhog who lives next door. He must look yummy.

Rita is such a beautiful girl. She is so lucky to have found you.

CR83- Jimmy is such a cutie, but he does look like he could be fierce. I'm so glad you haven't given up on him.

MM- OMG. that is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. He looks like he would be so perfect for hugging. :)

My shepard died last year, but I love the way Ilsa always sat on her. She is the total opposite of a tough pitbull. Probably thinks she's tough because she listens to alot of BFB though.

Enyo- Beautiful Pit. Outstanding.

Shootingscars- those pics are amazing. It is so tough when you lose one. We are almost 2 years since we lost our first guy and it is still very tough. He would have turned 8 last week. My wife won't even mention it. She'll break down. Life goes on but always keep them in our thoughts. Heck, he's in an urn on my nightstand. Still looking out ;-)
