new HATEBREED and EARTH CRISIS

Both really good buys. I got them a day early form a friend at a local record shop. The EC is really fucking heavy. Surprised me. I figured it be laced with that singing bullshit. Not at all.

I was thinking about checking these out today, but I'm not sure yet. I'm not a huge fan of either band, but I'm curious about the EC record since its been so long since they put something out and I'm always a sucker for a record of Cover songs so I will probably get the Hatebreed one.

the ec is tough. It's heavy and very ec. Think "gomorrah season", but fast. Think slither without the whiny rapping vocals. Add some good slayer guitar riffs and you got ht enew record. However the animal lib tip is in full effect more than normal and they have a awesome song about connecting all wars and the drug trade. More people die that are involved in the distribution of drugs than any war against another country. I like the record.

The EC record is alright. Not their best effort, IMO. And the sound like some of the corniest of the European vegan bands lyrics-wise sometimes. It's no Destroy the Machines, that's for sure.

Don't really care about Hatebreed.

I have not heard the EC and don't intend to. I think the Hatebreed is total rubbish. The song choices were shit and they were just mindless boring covers with no flare or personal touch to them at all. Escape by Metallica are you fucking kidding me. You take the best record they ever did and cover one of the their worst songs. Could you imagine how good For Whom the Bell Tolls would have sounded done by hatebreed.

That album was a let down.

I havent heard it so I dont have an opinion, but I'm surprised that you would want to hear For Whom The Bell Tolls.... I'm not a big fan of that song. Off that LP I rather hear "Ride The Lightning" or "Trapped Under Ice" for sure!

I love both songs you mentioned. I just thought that For Whom would suit hatebreed. And I love that song.

i think "escape" isnīt a bad song and i appreciate that the cover not only the hits that bands had, but more unknown songs. and they did it well with escape. jasta can even sing if he wants to and he should do it more often.

Some of the HB songs are ok, but some just shouldnt be.
the suicidal cover blows.

I bought both... I like some of the Hatebreed covers (Black Flag, Metallica, Misfits, Bad Brains) but some of them are not that great.

I havent listened to Earth Crisis yet.

I also got the new ISIS, but havent listened to it.

and I got The Vaselines "Enter The Vaselines" and its good, but I already knew it would be since its a collection and not new stuff.

The SLAYER cover is awesome. Same with the SUICIDAL.

That's odd/funny. Seems the general reaction from fans and press has been the total opposite: the song choices are great. They didn't take the "obvious hits" from the bands.

I'm listening to it again now so I definitly dont hate it, but its not that great. I feel like they took a lot of the energy & feeling out of some of the songs and now they just sound like generic metal/core songs insted of the classics that they really are (in most cases)

Look, its been a couple days now since the EC release. It's not the best thing ever. It's not even the best EC, but it is good. It doesn't get weak like past records did. Will I listen to it always. No, but I think its a good EC record.

the day those came out I bought....

EARTH CRISIS
HATEBREED
THE VASELINES (collection)
ISIS (new record)

The ISIS is awesome!! The Vaselines is great (if you like them!). The Earth Crisis is okay, and the Hatebreed is pretty good.

Thats just my 2 cent review.

The two worst EC albums, by far, are Slither and Gommorah's Seaon Ends. I do think To The Death surpasses those... I'm not sure where I stand with it in relation to Breed the Killers... for me they are about the same.

Destroy the Machines and the two 7"s will always be my favorites of theirs.

^^^^^^^ SERIOUSLY? Tell me you don't feel the anger/frustration in the song MORALITY DICTATES. That I feel is one of there high points. Next to the ALL OUT WAR and FIRESTORM 7"s.
