Bands like Ramallah

I've been listening to a lot of hardcore and punk lately with a message, bands that stood for something. Propagandhi, Strife, Snapcase, Ramallah. Bands who were pissed off, tried to get people to change or see the world in a different way and I've been in a really pissed off mood a lot lately.

So, what bands have a message that means something these days along with the pure bitter hatred and rage in the music like Ramallah? Just fierce pissed off music that will make me want to firebomb an embassy or something.

I'm sick to death of this meaningless shit I hear these days, lyrics about nothing. My life is heavily influenced by the music & lyrics I grew up on in the 90's and I don't get that in most of today's music. So I'm looking in the wrong places because in these times that rage just hasn't gone away.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

i never spent any time with RAMALLLAH,BFB.or any bands that people SWEAT so much...i say "good for them, and i hope they can make "the living dream" of playing music that means the world to them....

but- not for nothin' - a lot of the "leadERS" - MYSELF INCLUDED - were nothing but a couple of glorified FUCK UPS that got half-way lucky, and pissed away anything that could've been "beneficial"...

we all have our own wacked-out skeletons in the closet - AND.I MEAN ALL OF US ! - so to mark - don't think for one god-damned second, that your brother was one step ahead of ANYONE....he fucked up,just as we all did...he just left it to others to explain "why"...because HE DIDN'T CARE AFTER A WHILE...i don't slight him,for this...not at all...but,that's what happened...his band members did not, could not,and would not understand exactly where he was coming from...WELCOME TO MY WORLD,NIGGA!!!!

his band members are not to blame for any "misunderstandings",nor are they to blame for any fallacies...

it's all about the man that puts it out there FROM THE BEGINNING to back his shit up - past, present,or future - and NOT expect, nor TRUST anyone with what was written, wrote, nor sung...

nobody told rob to be the person that he's perceived as...and no one told him to persue it.

i hope he's doing well.

honestly.

but,no quarter will be given over words spilled so haphazrdly.

I haven't really been paying much attention to music lately so I couldn't tell you which newer bands to look into, but I think the last band that was pissed off and had a message I paid attention to was Paint it Black. That first album is fucking great. Haven't listened to the newest album, and didn't listen to their second album much either.

Now I've just been listening to sports radio and the metal station on SIRIUS. Definitely out of touch with current music.

this nay sayer? http://www.myspace.com/naysayerichmond

i checked them out since shootingscars is on the lind music cock even more than me, but i'm not so impressed. for one, it helps to understand the political lyrics.

that being said, ramallah was a welcome bit of fresh air in hardcore at a time when i couldn't have cared less... even if it does utilize metal a bit too much. :) shit's great. i don't see anything competing until paulie or rob want to out-do it, and they both seem content not caring.

and i'm the dork that would love a paulie/rob split acoustic album. how fucking ironic would it be for the hardcore album of the year to be acoustic!

I don't buy most bands "anger" for a minute these days.
like someone said above, to the affect of what are they even angry about?
I don't even want to be angry anymore, but I can't help it.
So anymore, I'm just not as interested in the angry thing.
I rather hear somethin else.
I think alot of the angry stuff was kinda misconstrued back in the day.
Sheer Terror for example.
While, Paul had in my opinion the best voice in the genre, there's just alot more emotions than the anger that is more easily indentified in ST's material.
I think I went off topic here.
That being said, I need a beer.

I'd be happy with even an acoustic album too. But happy like getting a hamburger when you know they could cook you a steak.

Political shit (topics that have an effect on the rest of the world, to me) coming from an intelligent musician who likes to party and has some nihilistic views is one of the only times its OK. I can at least relate to that guy. From a politician, not even close to worth my time. I sure as fuck can't relate to him. I don't mind hearing some music that makes me think versus me,me,me shit, fightin, fuckin, pretty much reality TV at a music level. The whole keepin it real mentality. Which I don't mind either. But goddamn, Jello does know his shit.

I find I'm looking for more positive hardcore lately. Don't know why.... just wanna have fun I guess.

There's enough to be pissed off about without listening to music to fuel it all the time.

If I ever start a band or anything like that, I came to the conclusion I would write a song called, "Can't Be Pissed."

The more I look around and think about it, the less I feel like I have any real reason to be terribly angry about where I stand.

The rest of the world, politically speaking, I hate to say it but I have gotten use to seeing people do horrible shit to one another for assorted and usually idiotic reasons.

Read the Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang. I don't know how much worse it could get.

Sooner or later, the planet or whatever holy being(s) people choose to worship will be hitting the reset button on humanity.
