It is my middle name and ever since high school, because it was weird, it became my nickname and what everyone called me. It's a Middle English name that means 'old village'.

Got it tattooed on my back both as a nod to heritage (it's my grandmother's maiden name) and just cos its been what people know me as.

Big Duane, who is my cousin, got his last name in the same way tattooed too. His last name, Miller, is my mother's maiden name.

And to round it all out Big D's dad, my uncle, just got a big ole anchor tattooed on his forearm.

Out of the 12 cousins in our family, Thorp and I have always been the most... alternative, I guess you'd say. He was into bmx and I was a skater in the 80s. We lived about an hour apart, so as kids, we only saw each other at family events. But around 1990 we ran into one another at a hardcore show - Edgewise, Forthright & American Standard.

Franklo, of course, is like our distant brown cousin. And, yes, he has his last name on his back, too.

This is the only photo I have of mine. Work was done in '94, photo was taken in '95. Don't mind the long hair!

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.
