my phone line just got hacked
In my office.
Yesterday at 4pm all of our lines lit up and we all left for the day thinking it was a simple problem that would correct itself...BIG FUCKING
MISTAKE!!!
A hacker forced their way into our system and had all 5 lines of our office calling a 1900 number in Taiwan.
Could be a bill upwards of $60,000. No fucking joke. We are a non profit and can't afford 1/100th of this.
Cops involved, i'll post more when I know.

This happened to us at my old office. and it was overnight so no one was around. I don't know what the final outcome was, but I think my boss was able
to shift the blame to the line provider. (they installed the system and there was a hole for hackers to get in, and they were supposed to monitor and
didn't cut it when there were TONS of calls being made)

phone company should be be able to get you off (no pun intended) though, right?

But, it depends on the system and who/how it was installed. We got the FBI involved because ours was to Saudia Arabia and was in Jan 2002.

a person was just arrested near Philadelphia for trying to arrange sex with a 13 year old via the internet. He was talking to a cop. The strange thing
was that he had hacked into somebody elses wireless connetion and was using their...uh ...frequency or whatever you call it.
