Beer Trades!! - yes another beer thread
Any Thorpsters near Santa Rosa, CA?
Looking to get a couple bottles of Pliny the Elder
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/863/7971
attempted this in the B9 beer thread but the people there are a touch flakey and it never materialized. not to mention for some reason my PW doesn't
work there any longer for some reason.
figured I'd try here.
Can easily get all kinds of midwest stuff like Three Floyds, Bells, Founders, Tyranena, Great lakes etc.

I just did a beer swap at work on Thursday.
24 people grab a case, and meet in a parking lot and all take one of each, as wel as a score card.
It's the only good thing I've gotten out of this job in 10 years...

That is pretty cool as long as some butthole doesn't show up with BCM beers.

Apparently Russian River Brewing (Pliny's brewer) has distribution in Philly also?
The catch though is the bottles date MUST be a month old TOPS. It's a very hoppy double IPA and is best fresh or cellared. Fresh you need it within
about 6 weeks of the bottled date...if not you're best to cellar it for a year and wait for it to smooth out.

i've heard it's pretty good, though i've never tried it myself. just got myself a stout soaked cardboard box in a trade last week. unimpressed? very
much so.

Sounds like a bad packing job? Did they bubble wrap the bottles? The PO could break a piece of paper...I'd never trust them with full bottles unless
they were wrapped above and beyond.
...and yeah Pliny is consistently rated in the top 5 beers in the world.

I am up for it. This is a good idea. How do we ship it? I want in on this.

yeah, no bubble wrap. he stuffed some newspaper and plastic bags. my (fully bubble wrapped and tightly packed of course) package got to him no
problem. ah well, he felt bad and is gonna resend them which is ok. jason, you should try the trading forum on beeradvocate. with the stuff you have
access to as trade bait you should have no problem finding some pliny. now pliny the younger might be a little more difficult.

IPA (India Pale Ale) was originally brewed to survive the boat ride to India.

Yes, but the American west coast IPA's annihilate the traditional style. It's like filet mignon and ground chuck.
