Cane Corso is a mastiff so your right, just an offshoot of them.
This is how the ears are usually cropped which I think looks kinda stupid.

A Cane Corso is an Italian Mastiff. Much like the Presa is a Spanish Mastiff and the Dogo is a Argentina Mastiff. It is just the original Italian name
given to the breed.

hahahaha.
I agree the ears are better left as is. Unless you are using the dog for hunting and herding where there was a chance his ears could get damaged,
there is no reason to crop the ears.
