Shawn, I've been meaning to ask you about it for some time. I read the lyrics for "What is right" and I was wondering if you were a religious person? I hope that's not too personal of a question.

Religious = NO from me. And, not it's not too personal to ask that. I am proud to be just here and not held to the ridicule of an organization. Not that I don't believe in a higher power, I just don't think ANY religion has all the facts.

I lost my grandmother to cancer last year. Then a month later my bulldog. So this was a song written to deal with the losses. She was a strong lady and could hold her ground. Broke up bar fights at my grandfathers bar. And my bulldog was my best friend for the short time I had him.

Everywhere I go, I know you've got my back.
You're always in my mind and in my heart
You lived too short a life for me comprehend
the good that's inside you will never ever end.

I'm here in my life because of you
You taught me how to follow through
When to stand down and when to fight
Always do what is right
What is right?

Days that you were with me were the best in my life
Knowing you're still watching gets me through the night
I never have a feeling of being left alone
even though you're gone now, I'm not on my own

I'm here in my life because of you
You taught me how to follow through
When to stand down and when to fight
Always do what is right
What is right?

A year ago, I lost a very special person in my life. She passed on March 21, 2009. She inspired the song What is Right on the new album. Download What is Right for free today and tomorrow only. I miss you Gram. http://www.refuseresistband.com/images/free/What_is_Right.mp...

http://www.emptyhandspvd.com/2010/03/refuse-resist-socialize...

"I loved the first release and this only improves on their sound. They are tighter and fiercer. They are more confident and more enraged. Just when I decide that they are more ‘hardcore’, a punkier sound pops up. This is a perfect blend of the two styles; a time-tested sound that solidify the tradition of the Boston scene for the past 30 years. Carry the torch left by The Trouble, A Poor Excuse, and Bluebloods for that contemporary Boston borderline oi!/hc."

Refuse Resist, Socialized: thenoise-boston.com
"Refuse Resist keeps Boston punk rock alive."
http://www.thenoise-boston.com/content/view/311/17/

Refuse Resist, Socialized: The Radioactivist
"The cover of Socialized is marked by one of the most pointed and timely conceptual illustrations in recent years, a human wired through the brain to social networks Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, a precursor to the technological singularity cybernetic assholes like Ray Kurzweil promote."

These reviews were solicited specifically for the European release of Socialized, but I figured I'd post 'em for those interested.

http://www.weeklydig.com/arts-entertainment/music/cd-reviews...

"The album's completely devoid of pretension, and it totally works: Songs come in and bash through about four to six chords, gang vocals abound and vocalist Shawn Refuse gives you an idea of what it would be like to eat nails for lunch every day."

"Vocalist Shawn Refuse has an extremely low pitched voice that is gritty as hell and gives the music some added intensity."
