Billy Idol rumored to sing for Aerosmith
Veteran rocker Billy Idol has become the latest big name rumoured to be in the running to replace Steven Tyler as frontman of Aerosmith.
The band revealed they will be hosting auditions to find a new member while Tyler takes a hiatus, with guitarist Joe Perry insisting the star won't be
ready to tour with them until he recovers from a recent stint in rehab and a series of operations.
Lenny Kravitz was the first singer linked to the role, but admitted he would never take over from Tyler, while reports have also suggested former
Queen star Paul Rodgers.
Now Idol is rumoured to be in contention, with Classic Rock magazine reporting he was due to meet with the musicians but pulled out after falling
sick.
A source tells the publication, "Joe said he wanted to talk to Billy about joining Aerosmith, because the band were having problems with Steven. As
far as I know Idol did not show up due to having a cold."
Perry recently admitted they have already talked to a number of singers about replacing Tyler, but refused to divulge any names. He said, "(There's) a
few people we've talked to, and we'll see how it goes... As far as auditions go, we'll probably just sit around and have a couple of drinks and see if
we get along - because we're already gonna know that they can sing."

Money money money........................ MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Living a life kept shut by a dream,
I'm reaching out to grasp my reality.
Hands of time wrap tight around my neck, and hit me so hard,
leaving me eyes black.
staring at a ceiling,
wondering why i never left,
penning words in a notebook,
wondering why haven't slept.
sanity is tapping in a cell
inside my fucking head.
begging for redemption
after hearing what was said.
the nights, they will not sleep
cause the days, have played for keeps.

WHat happened to S Tyler?
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

I can't even imagine going to see Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. Would people seriously pay for that? That's like the Stones without Jagger. A good
portion of the Stones image is Jagger, all of Aerosmith's image is Tyler.

I wouldn't mind Billy Idol singing for Velvet Revolver. Actually my first pick for that would be Keith Caputo from Life of Agony.

I think he actually was asked to audition for that a while back.
I cant remember if was last year or the year before but one of my friends was asked to audition for Velvet Revolver, and a lot of the other people he
told me were also asked are a lot of the names being thrown around for this such as Idol and Kravitz.

Well, yeah, there's that. But for someone who is a fan, why the hell would that hypothetical "you" pay 50-100 bucks to see a band that's not really
the band because Tyler isn't there? Makes no sense at all.

It's kind of like all the people that go see the Wailers 30 years after Marley died. I can't imagine going to see them simply because it's going to be
someone else singing Bob Marley's songs, and it's not even one of his kids singing it. Or when people were going to see that Doors tour a few years
back. What's the fucking point? Some of these bands need to shed the illusion that they mattered as much to the public as their front men.
Even some hardcore bands are in that category now. I can't imagine AF without Miret, for instance.

I was only ever moved by Rock You Like A Hurricane, so... I don't really care about them either. I'm just more fascinated by the stupidity of people
that would go see a band, any band, that basically is embodied by the front man even though said legendary front man is not doing the tour.
I wouldn't go see H2O without Toby, or AF without Roger, or Earth Crisis without Karl, or could you imagine a Warzone "reunion" in a few years??? A
tour, no less? Without Raybeez? That wouldn't even be Warzone. The competing Cro-Mags reunions are bad enough.

I understand the whole front man thing, but harley as great and integral he was to the cro-mags was just the bassist in black and white.
But yeah I would not go to a show when there claiming to be whoever and theres 1 real member left, like discharge are playing tonight the only origianl
member left is the drummer.

I agree with pretty much all of that, but I bet that a lot of people would go to see those bands without the right singers. Like you said it works for
the Cro-Mags and it worked or Bad Brains too.

Agreed. That's beyond ridiculous.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, ?You know, I want to set those people over there on
fire, but I?m just not close enough to get the job done.? George Carlin
