Yeah, cold turkey about 10 years ago. did it for health reasons. You pretty much just have to really want to do it. If you dont...no patches or BS mindfuck treatment will help.

I wouldn't be smoking anymore even if it wasn't for that, due to their cost...it's insane to spend that much money on cigarettes.

I love the quote "Quitting smoking is easy... i've done it a million times" Nah, seriously though. I've quit in the past (4 years) but my dumb ass started again. I always found that the first three days are the hardest.

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

I've been cig smoke free for almost 3 years. I'd tried and failed a few times but I think my dad dying of cancer (not sure if it was related to smoking) helped me some. I had my doc prescribe the nicotine patch and I used it for about 2 weeks then just didnt smoke after that. Once I hit a month I just couldn't bring myself to starting again, I would have been to down on myself for starting again.

I have been free for like 7 or 8 years now. I just set a date, gave people my word and did it. That was big for me. Tell others you are going to quit. They can't wait to see you fail but you can prove them wrong. rub their fucking faces in it by quitting.

I once quit for 2 years cold turkey, started again, quit for a year cold turkey, last time was 6 months. I'm in the same boat, I've been smoking for 10 years, but I honestly LIKE to smoke a cigarette sometimes, but I can't keep smoking a pack a day, so I'm doing pretty good at cutting it down, for the past week I've kept it to 1-4 cigs a day. It's all about willpower, I think the best way to keep from going back to your old ways is to not want to let yourself down

I quit about a year and a half ago. I had tried many times before that.... Chantix worked great for me... But right when I'd stop taking it, I'd start back up. I hadn't really planned on quitting the day I did... It was just getting super expensive, I saw a buy one get one offer on a cheeper brand so I bought them... They tasted gross so I went from a pack a day to those 2 packs lasting almost a week. After that I was just done. I was spending more time with my dude who doesn't smoke, and it made me feel like a loser anyway to be at his house, go outside for a butt then come in knowing I smelt. I didn't tell anyone I quit either, didn't want to hear how great it was and all that bull cause I know that would just make me want it more.

This

Not in regards to smoking, that was never an issue for me, but for drug use. Its what I did and still do, keeps me straight.

I did smoke for a few years but when I was doing firefighting in the navy I quit, didn't want to suck down my oxygen tank to fast.

Good luck.

eighth day of quitting for me, haven't had an urge since the 3rd night, being able to breath properly again is nice, I hope this is the last time I quit. Not paying $6 a day to kill myself with a drug that doesn't even get me high is great too

good luck.
you should start putting that $6 a day aside somewhere.
buy yourself something good.

i do that shit if i have some kind of goal.
financial repercussions are a great motivator for me.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

honestly, the hardest habit to break. took me about 6 times to finally stick with it. i would go a month or two and then smoke a cig while i was drinking at a party. next day i would buy a pack and get back into it. went to europe for awhile after i hadnt smoked in about 7 years. if you can make it over there(since everyone fucking smokes there) you can make it anywhere.

my girlfriend bought me an electronic cigarette a couple of weeks ago.
it's pretty cool, truth be told.

i've only had two real cigarettes since i got this thing and both times is because the battery had run out.
