Your top 20 bands

If you had to pick your Top 20 then who would it be? All genres included.....

As I get older I care less for underground bands and more for the bands that were popular when I was a teenager. For me:

1. Bruce Springsteen with or without The E Street Band
2. The Beatles and related solo projects
3. Rancid and related solo projects
4. Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst/other related projects
5. Alice in Chains and Jerry Cantrell solo
6. Elliott Smith
7. U2
8. The Replacements/Paul Westerberg
9. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
10. The Rolling Stones
11. Pearl Jam
12. Guns N' Roses
13. Metallica
14. Angels & Airwaves/Box Car Racer/later day Blink 182
15. Green Day
16. AC/DC
17. Ozzy Osbourne/old Black Sabbath
18. Soundgarden/Chris Cornell projects
19. Nirvana/Foo Fighters (or vice versa)
20. Against Me/Tom Gabel

Some honorable mentions: Goo Goo Dolls, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, REM, old Elton John, Nine Inch Nails, The Loved Ones, The Clash, Life of Agony, Duff McKagan's Loaded and a bunch more.

I like everything from the first 7" up thru pure rock fury
after that they got a bit too stale for me...
others here on the board quit on them long before that
while others here don't seem to like the older heavier stuff and prefer the newer blues jams

no matter what go see them live, and you'll be hooked

Sick of It All
Blood For Blood
Darkest Hour
54-40

Blacklisted

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

When it comes to CLUTCH I think I have left young student level and graduated to professional status over the course of a year and a half. I am well versed in everything CLUTCH, but as I have stated in previous emails, I prefer new CLUTCH to old CLUTCH. I don't get excited when I here Transnational, but it is good. I think they are best on ELEPHANT RIDERS. Self titled and Robot Hive are both up there too. That being said I think they are tremendous and can't stop rocking them out. The reason I have listed them in top 20 is they are one of those bands I can listen to everything they do. They never suck and never get weak. They never make filler songs and if they did, I could never tell.

Check out BAKERTON GROUP. Good running the streets- jam music.

I couldn't name 20 bands...I may dislike most bands entire catalogue except one album. I think single recordings hold more merit than band legacies.

I'd rather name 20 albums that this world would be much more grim w/o...it's much less fluid and a lot easier of a list. No real order here...just albums by some of my favorite bands that would come with me to the desert island...which I know quite well is another list...

DRI - Dealing With It
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
Cro-Mags - Age of Quarrel
Terrorizer - World Downfall
Bad Brains - Live (SST)
Black Sabbath - Master of Reality
Cold as Life - Born to Land Hard
Ghostface - Fishscale
Insult to Injury - Realm of Indifference
Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
Misfits - Walk Among Us
GG/ANTiSEEN - Murder Junkies
Insect Warfare - World Extermination
Thin Lizzy - Black Rose
Motorhead - Overkill
Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption
Notorious BIG - Ready to Die
One Life Crew - Crime Ridden Society
Venom - Welcome to Hell
Ringworm - The Promise
