Jonny Stevens, solo artist and former frontman to Halifax punk act the New Breed, has been named the new executive director of the Halifax Pop Explosion festival. The five day music and culture festival, now in its 18th year, will take place from October 19th to the 23rd, 2010. Stevens has spent the past three years as the education and events coordinator with Music Nova Scotia and has serves as an instructor at the Nova Scotia Community College Music Business program.

The New Breed released Port City Rebels in 2003 and Off The Beaten Path in 2004 via Thorp Records.

Thanks guys. Really hard to leave my current job but this festival is way more my style as I get to work with bands from all over the world from all different genres. It's a festival that The New Breed has played a number of times in the past and I can't wait to work with the next generation of bands.

I start there on April 12th.
