my job is a complete joke...

I apologize to anyone that is out of work and I know I'm not the only person that hates their job, but I want to give you an example...

Its 10:30am right now. I got in to work at 7:00am, but I have overtime offered to me and I could have come in at 6:00am if I wanted to.

In any case, I've been here since 7:00am, which is 3.5 hours and I have not done ANYTHING! Not one piece of paperwork to staple, not one job to do... literally NOTHING!

I'm SO bored!!!

I'm only doing temp/contract work here and there at the moment when it comes up while looking for something more permanent again.
Worked Mon, Tues, Weds this week, every day there was nothing for me to do after the first hour of arriving.
The other 6.5 hours of each day I ended up researching places I want to go away to this year and trying to teach myself some Arabic.....I was pretty bored!

XhonusX Are there no courses or training type things you could ask your manager to put you on during quite periods like this?

Might as well learn something new and enhance your CV while getting paid....

Living a life kept shut by a dream,
I'm reaching out to grasp my reality.
Hands of time wrap tight around my neck, and hit me so hard,
leaving me eyes black.
staring at a ceiling,
wondering why i never left,
penning words in a notebook,
wondering why haven't slept.
sanity is tapping in a cell
inside my fucking head.
begging for redemption
after hearing what was said.
the nights, they will not sleep
cause the days, have played for keeps.

my job pays well, but its SO boring!

RI is doing fine I think Clevo.... There was A LOT of rain and a lot of flooded basements, but I didnt see any real damage near me and my basement is dry (knock on wood!).

Theres no classes or anything I can do because if a union and any additional training would have to go to the most senior person and thats definitly not me.

I worked until 3:30 (could have stayed until 4:30) and I literally did NOTHING all day... not one piece of paperwork... NOTHING!

Have you ever thought about dressing up as a bond villain tying someone to a table and going for the old ball cutter routine with that laser engraving machine.....Might kill sometime?

EXACTLY! If they want to pay good money for nothing, let them! They should keep watch on the activities of their company, especially if they are putting out for overtime. I have had jobs where I was doing nothing and getting paid shit. I would be TOTALLY fine with being paid damn good money to sit and go on the internet all day.

Sorry Josh, I don't see whaere there is any real complaint. Get your money for posting on Thorp.

When I worked at the Newbury Comics Warehouse I had a REALLY strong work ethic and I did the best job I could every day. Also when you're busy the day goes by fast. This place has beaten that work ethic out of me... I dont care about my work or the people I work with or the company I work for at all anymore.

I love this board and I come here like 100 times a day, but theres only so much to read. Theres only so much to do on the internet. When I have NO work to do I'm glad I'm getting paid and not digging ditches in the hot sun, but the day goes by SO slow its painful! I just want some work to do thats all... : (

Shitty position to be in dude.

I have the exact opposite. My hours were cut to 20/week and I'm supposed to handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, some analysis work and anything that comes up in that time. I get in at 9 and barely have time to shit before I have to go home. I tried staying late to get caught up and was told I was not allowed to because of the partial unemployment.

No worries! I've been meaning to lose weight and live in the dark with only candle light to help me see while hand writing my CV out in blood because i cannot buy a pen.
