City Gardens

I saw so many great shows here before moving to baltimore in 92.
Always wondered when/why it closed down.

There is a book being worked on about City Gardens - http://www.citygardensnj.com/book.htm

It became a hip hop club called Club XL in the mid-90's. This was followed by a series of busts, raids, etc. that got it shut down for a variety of reasons I believe. Randy Now still has a tribute page to the club, and of course there are one or two Facebook groups. Last I heard was that the building is for sale. But apparently that neighborhood in North Trenton is even worse now than it was in the 80's and 90's, if that's even possible.

Saw lots of great shows there and have many memories. Any night there were people from NJ, PA, CT, NY. I was lucky to have that place 20 minutes away from home.
