Hometown Thorwdown support announced
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have announced the full line-up for their 12th annual Hometown Throwdown, being held at the House of Blues in Boston from
December 26th through the 28th.
For the first night, the bill will feature The F.U.'s and We Are the Union. The second will include H2O and The Flatliners and the final show of the
set will include Less Than Jake and DYS.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

yeah odd, but LTJ has the bosstones fans, and Dicky was at the DYS reunion show, must have liked what he saw
I am going night 2 as well. I chose it because of H20. I hear flatliners are really good too.

The F.U.'s are the only opener that might hold any interest for me.

In somewhat related news, I like the fact that Dropkick Murphys are just having the same band open all of their St Paddy's Day shows this year. It's
not like they need the help selling the tickets. Against Me is on all the shows.

I am going to skip the Dropkicks shows this year, didn't really have a good time at last years show. I use to like the fact that they changed it up
every show, made it more interesting. First st patty's show I went to was one the Ducky Boys opened for them, maybe 7 years ago? Shawn thats why I
chose night 2 too.

Mark, I thought Against Me was only doing one night? No?
Put in a good word for a great (well, we think we are ok) opening band, seeing how I don't know any of them personally haha.

I'm going to all 3 nights of Throwdown. Very excited for the openers. So pumped to see DYS(and at the NYC show the next week), since I missed the
August show.
Shawn, I don't know if you'll be real into the Flatliners. They've been good every time I saw them(Bosstones summer tour twice, missed them at the
Allentown show, and Riot Fest), though. Who knows? A couple of their songs are so fast their singer can't keep up with the lyrics live, but they play
them anyways, it's kind of amusing.
As for DKM choosing Against Me! to open all the shows...not excited. I don't like Against Me! and will be at both the 17th & 18th shows. I'm really
hoping they pull in other good support bands. Support for DKM is generally a let down for me, so we shall see what this year brings. I don't expect
anything amazing, though.

I always thought the support for DKM was always good , one of the main reasons I would go see them. Last years shows were kind of a let down except
for a few of the bands, the show I went to had the swingin utters on it but no one knew who they were. Thats the main reason why I am not going to go
this year, the people there are only there to see DKM and have no idea who the other bands are. Were before everyone knew all the bands on the bill
and it made the whole show fun. It just isn't that fun anymore.

That is one great line up...........Aside from less than jake.
Living a life kept shut by a dream,
I'm reaching out to grasp my reality.
Hands of time wrap tight around my neck, and hit me so hard,
leaving me eyes black.
staring at a ceiling,
wondering why i never left,
penning words in a notebook,
wondering why haven't slept.
sanity is tapping in a cell
inside my fucking head.
begging for redemption
after hearing what was said.
the nights, they will not sleep
cause the days, have played for keeps.

I know, I was kidding. Of course he would have them play. AND like what he saw. That scene was what got him into music. If I can get in on that night
I will go definitely. Just can't afford so many shows at HOB prices.

They always pull a band or two I want to see...like the Utters. But I never end up with tickets to those shows. I always get the openers I want
nothing to do with. The last opener I've really enjoyed them with on St. Paddy's that I've been there for is Mark Lind & the Unloved, but if I'm not
mistaken the other band on that show was Black 47 and they made me want to rip out my eardrums. Only did one show last year, got SOIA and Larry & His
Flask. Couldn't get into Larry. And SOIA, though a very fun live band, is just not my favorite hardcore band.

Last years lineups were not as good as in years past. Tha show I went to for example had the Utters on it, but the openin bands was Swimming with
sharks or something like that and they played all these old sailor songs. I was bored out of my mind during their set.

Barroom Heroes are opening one night for Dropkicks. The 13 year olds, according to their YouTube.

Yeah I would assume Ken will still have one rotating opener for each show. The openers are cool for people that care for opening bands but - let's be
honest - we're a very small minority these days. DKM are so huge that their audience doesn't give a shit about the openers and Against Me is probably
the only band they can pull in that those people will like since they actually get light radio play. Opening up for them is a really fun experience
but it's not what it was 10 years ago when their audience was salivating for the next band. I'd go so far as to say that it would be far more valuable
for a young band to open for Street Dogs and play to 400 people than it would be to open for DKM and play to 2000 people.... unless you have massive
crossover appeal. At least at the SD show then all 400 people will like you where as about 1% of the people at the DKM show might pay attention.
Playing with DKM is like getting the rockstar treatment; they haven't changed at all as far as their graciousness and hospitality goes but it's a way
different ball game. They could have anyone open and it doesn't matter since the tickets sell out without the openers even being announced.
The Bosstones, on the other hand, are in a cool position for us because they need the openers to sell the tickets so they craft interesting line-ups
and people pick and choose which night they will go to based on the openers.
This post was way longer than it needed to be.

Mark your right, it's definately not the same as 10 years ago. Like I said earlier when I saw the utters last year, maybe about 30-40 people knew
who they were. The rest of the audience just sat there not really paying any attention to them.
