Sam Adams - Noble Pils

I like it. It pretty good and has a nice flavor that lingers.

there's nothing brewed there. It's just a tourist trap. The beer is shipped in from a brewery in Pennsylvania. I'm the beer delivery guy.

Do they even brew small batches of stuff there anymore? It can't just be a dead building?

Will you send me a sixer of the Bock? I can't get it in Ohio because of some shitty rule/law. I will pay or trade ya a sixer of some Clevo beer you haven't had.

maybe a small batch to show how it made, but anything you drink came from a truck on Thursday.

And the noble ale is just a renamed spring ale. They realized nobody was buying spring ale when summer rolled around. The did the same with winter ale, renamed it white ale hoping to get more time out of it.

I've tried 3 different Sam Adams beers over the years and hated them all. I thought they were fucking disgusting. Sam Adams is to America what Labbatt Blue is to Canada, nationally-distributed bottles of moose piss.

Sam Adams is far from the pinnacle of American craft brewing, but comparing them to Labbatts is laughable at best. They knocked down a lot of doors to allow the current craft brew renaissance to even get as far as it has and the whole world is watching the US now when it comes to beer.

That being said, I never buy the stuff because there's too much better beer available and I'd rather support smaller breweries than some publicly traded one, but it's a nice option when you're at some bullshit bar where Bud and Miller products are your only other choices.

Wasn't the Spring Ale a Kolsch and the Noble Pils a Pilsner? Not like there's a huge difference but I don't see how it can just be "renamed" then. I don't even remember the last time I had a spring ale though so who knows....but I don't remember it being as palatable as the Noble, because most of their seasonals are undrinkable.

Was there ever a Winter "ale"? All I can find reference to is a Winter Lager which has a totally different description than the White Ale....you got me curious now lol.

@Mickey, thank you for making me laugh out fucking loud first thing in the morning. "anything you drink came from a truck on Thursday." hilarious.

@quinn, i've never even heard of the Yuengling bock. this must be rectified.

it's funny to think that sam adams used to be a microbrew. you could definitely argue that we would not be where we are today if not for them.

i'm not familiar with boston area breweries, but can anyone suggest other local spots panzer might want to look into? if dude's coming from germany, might as well make the most of it!

In Boston you have The Harpoon Brewery too, and their is the Boston Beer Works over by Fenway. They brew all their own beer there. In Allston you have the Sunset Bar & Grill, which has hundreds of beers on tap and in the bottle. They have good food too.

Please, anyone. I'll trade or buy a six of the BOCK. Send it UPS is not a problem. I never knew that made it and want to try bad.

The SAM ADAMS issue, I am a fan of them. They are legendary with respect to the state of beer in America. The Ale, Lager, and Octoberfest are outstanding brews. The Black and XXX are tremendous as well. Can't hate on them for being a success. It's good beer.
